Best

Totally dorky kids dancing their hearts out... The place is set up perfectly for a good party--completely dark dance floor [conveniently hiding your crappy moves], cushioned chair...

Downstairs here is okay, but if you go upstairs it will get weird. The drinks aren't bad but the layout is lacking. I would rather go to liberties! more

Sweaty college house party 2/21/2008

Having been to this place a few times now, I can say this one of my favorite places to go and dance. It has a great beer selection, but if you get there around 11 p.m. , there's limited seating and not much room to stand - the place is narrow. The three single toilet bathrooms are unisex, and lines often form starting early in the night - weird fact to give, but when you have had 4 beers, the line takes forever to get through. I'd describe this place similar to a college house party, but it's not college and it's a 2 floor bar. This is not the place to go dressed up in your finest club digs. A fun t-shirt and jeans plus some comfy sneakers (but hip) are your best bet. If you are dancing, wear deoderant because you will get sweaty on the dance floor. I agree with one of the reviews that the crowd is pretty quirky, but everyone is there to shake it, and not always very well. Careful of the drunk kids who like to dirty dance or throw their friends around, they'll bump into you and you may get annoyed if you don't figure out that 1. it's a really small dance floor and 2. almost everyone is drunk or on who knows what. The DJ on Saturday nights rarely disappoints, spinning everything from Snoop Dogg to Boyz II Men (crowd always sings along to ""Motown Philly"") to James Brown. The best part with the music is he doesn't play the whole song, and seemlessly switches from song to song to keep the mix fresh and keep everyone moving. I definitely recommend this place to go with a group of friends to dance. Pros: fun dance music, good beer selection, no cover charge Cons: parking can tough to find more

Party at Grandma's House 10/29/2006

Totally worthwhile nighttime excursion to get drunk and dance your pants off. Some nights the DJs are more on then others, but when they gel and don't get too into themselves it's golden. Being that it's really on and off, you can go one night and have trouble even getting to the dance floor upstairs, and other nights, it's you, your friend, and the bartender and his buddy who stopped by. Pros: Fun dancing for traditionally non-dancers, good beer selection, mostly exceptional DJing Cons: The occasional "off" night more

Nerdy... in a good way 6/5/2004

Totally dorky kids dancing their hearts out... The place is set up perfectly for a good party--completely dark dance floor [conveniently hiding your crappy moves], cushioned chairs facing each other [close enough to talk some Chomsky] and cheap beers on tap. I think I'm in love. If you don't like it, you probably don't belong there. Go back to Dave and Buster's. Pros: awful dancing, cheap drinks, IQs>100 Cons: , transit lacking more

So-so 9/19/2003

I was not terribly impressed but it was a worthwhile bar to hang out or go for the music. A short jaunt from the Spring Garden Stop on the El. there is also a bus that goes up thrid street that'll take you there. more

700 6/21/2003

Nice, hip neighborhood bar in Northern Liberties. DJ's/Music all week. Trendy, locals, regulars bar. Always a nice time. Weekends really crowded. Pros: Service, Bar & Beer selection, good tunes Cons: no food, Packed on weekends more

W.C. Fields: Location Location Location 8/10/2002

This is the after work category, right? Great bar. Great music. Go for the night. But, too out of the way from most Philadelphia workers to go for happy hour. You spend 40 min in cabs there and back and $15 or drive home drunk if you are stupid. Best local for those that live nearby would win hands down - or for a night out. Love the bar - not for this purpose. If you don't work it is fine - that is why it doesn't belong in this category Service can be good. Food???? No way. SHould charge less for Yuengling. So many good beers there. Due to that, not a cheap bar although it should be due to location. Pros: Beer selection, music, very cool crowd Cons: Location, Location, Location more
