Eagle Thai quality declines precipitously! 11/1/2009

I have been ordering take-out at this formerly fine family restaurant for over thirteen years. Recently the father, the head Chef moved to Texas, and the mother/wife took over the kitchen. As a result my four favorite dishes have been destroyed along with their reputation: Pros: Used to be great Cons: They have reduced quantity and quality of ingredients! more

Succulent, THE BEST THAI food in Portland, if you know what to get! 3/4/2009

This is my favorite place ever, I have constant cravings for their hot and sour soup called ?Tom Yum? And I try to go at least once a month even thought I live 40 minutes away. The service is great, it?s in a big house so it?s kind of a different atmosphere. They always get the food to us quickly. Like any restaraunt, they have things that are GREAT and things that aren?t all that special. Pros: Service, Specialty items, Spicy choice, Hot and Sour soup Cons: None. more

Terrible Thai! 10/11/2008

I can't believe this place can exist when such fine Thai establishments exist within a scant few miles of this admittedly attractive spot. Housed in an old Portland craftsman house, the vibe here is downhome & cheery, but the food is so below-average as to be laughable. The Pad Kee Mow is truly a work of stunning dullness; just a bunch of poorly cooked noodles in a near-non existant, tasteless sauce that might be nudging up against a scanty few veggies. The tofu was alright, and after dousing the whole mess in a ton of hot chilis, I was at least able to enjoy the fiery aspect I'd created. Not recommended! I want that hour of my life back! Pros: nice downhome ambiance Cons: the food..the food... more

Great Thai Great Sake 7/20/2008

The portions (at dinner) are big enough for two and reasonably priced. I had the panang curry with tofu and potatoes. It was perfectly cooked. My friend had the green curry with chicken and it was spicy!. But that's what she wanted. We each ordered sake and got five shots a person. It was smooth and had a nice flavor. I will definitely bring friends back there. I also love that it is a mom and pop place, which means authentic. Pros: Great Food, nice quaint setting more

Eagle Thai Review - Pad Kee Mow really salty 7/10/2008

Ordered my standard.....Pad Kee Mow. It was really salty (especially the baby corn) and not all that flavorful. The food is pretty inexpensive and you do get some soup with your meal, but I would definitely choose Chaba Thai or Thai Basil over Eagle Thai. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Better options abound more

Eagle or Eagles? 12/21/2004

Dont let the year round Chrsitmas decorations fool you! Ha! This may not be the most romantic or well decorated place, but they have some of the best thai food! Good service and prices. Pros: price, speedy more

Yummy 9/16/2003

Good food and good service, could do with some interior upgrades but for the price its a great place. Great for friends and family but bright lighting and stark interior isn't conducive to a romantic atmosphere. Pros: Good food, fast service Cons: Old house setting, table settings more

Warning: Red Sauce very hot! 9/7/2002

Eagle Thai is among the finest Thai dining establishments I've visited in the Portland area. The Pad Thai, Massaman, and Yellow Curry are quite delicious, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the service is exceptionally friendly. Caution: the red sauce is spicy to volcanic proportions. Pros: Good Pad Thai, Hilarious Menu Typos, Freaky Fish in Tank more
