Great place to take a date or family 9/28/2011

Love the OTH, go there all the time. The chips and salsa are addictive. Also the deep fried ice cream tops off a great meal. Also pick up a jug of salsa and enchilada sauce on the way out. The staff is friendly and attentive, the top off my diet coke every few minutes. I am a big fan. more

Original Taco House stinks! 9/2/2011

Worst meal of my life regardless of origin of cuisine, plus we all got sick afterwords. I've seen more appealing for come out a college dormitory microwave. This place and its food is downright awful!!! more

Good for family and kids 4/27/2011

I have been going to the Original Taco House for over 35 years!! It may be one of my favorite places to eat although my selections of the menu are just a few I can never eat my entire meal. I do not like spicy food so this fits me just fine. The service is good and has changed over the years you use to orger food as you entered now you have a server the food has not and by the way it is made right next door then sent out to the other locations not in a can. The free chips are awesome. Enjoy your visit more

We thought to try out the Original Taco House since upon repeat passings, it's lot was always very full. Our out of town guest arrived and was looking to dine on some local Mexican food... so, we chose the Original Taco House. more

I'm a burrito EXPERT! 11/15/2008

My mom worked at the Taco House when I was a baby and I have been brought up on their food. I am now 21 and still enjoy coming to this place on an at least bi-weekly basis. I love their food and service. I am always excited to bike over and have a bite. :) Pros: Food, parking, service. Cons: I hate the people who own the restaurant chain. They are some of the sleeziest lowest of the low people in Portland, despite what you have heard and might've read in the Oregonian. more

Don't eat the beans... 10/3/2008

My boyfriend and I, along with my niece ordered two entree to share. I forgot what we ordered, but it was enough for two adults and a three year old. The service was nice, but was not superb. As for the food, my boyfriend I expected more for our money. Pros: Parking, service Cons: Average food more

worst dining experience 7/12/2008

My wife went to this restaurant for dinner last night. We have been going here off and on for years, and had met there for our first date about 10 years ago. We were seated in an area with a lot of children. They were so loud that we could not even hold a conversation across our table. The quality of the food has gone down over the years. My wife ordered the tostada grande. It had way too many refried beans, as did my big chicken burrito. The service was just okay. We were never offered refills on our soda or iced tea. The next time we want mexican food, we will go to a place that is more quiet. Cons: Way too noisy more

I agree with cclemo, it seems as though all of the food that comes to the table was in a can, bag, or box only moments prior to being heated and served. My services was a little slow, but not terrible. The servers were not really making it too much of a point to be helpful. But again, not terrible. The food was unmistakably tasteless, and disappointing. Pros: Um, chips and salsa before the meal. Bad salsa though Cons: Bad food. more

Always fast and good 4/6/2007

I have been going to The Original Taco House for over 30 years. Though it's not the most authentic mexican food in PDX it's consistent, fast and good. I have taken many people there over the years and they are always skeptical walking in, but walk out raving fans. Casual, inexpensive and great service and wonderful Happy Hour and nightly drink specials in the bar. Pros: Fast, service, Guacamole more

So Fast and Friendly 12/20/2005

The parking lot was packed, so we figured we'd have a long wait. But we were seated right away, got our free chips, and then once we ordered, our meal came seconds later! It was nothing spectacular. But for the friendly service, free chips, and free cinnamon mexican cookies, it was a nice experience. Great for those of us in the outer NE neighborhoods. Pros: friendly service, freebies, fast Cons: not especially veggie, not amazing taste more

I liked the service and the food was nothing to brag about. Everything was swimming in their traditional red sauce which is bland and had NO flavor. Pros: available seating, good value, friendly service more
