When hubby and I have time we love to go to Estacada. They have a great library, a wonderful used book store, nice beer at Fearless and they have Mikes!
First and foremost, Mike is a character. He is grouchy in a way that just makes one laugh. He has signs posted everywhere, about putting stuff back where you found it! To not switch lids on pots! It always cracks me up and always makes me search just that much more and always to put things back as I found them.
Mike's prices are more than reasonable. In fact, they are low. And he has a ton of stuff. Fun stuff, stuff that will cause you to say :I had one of those, my mother had one of those...oh my Gawd, I have always wanted one of those!''
On our last visit, I found an electric bean pot. Circa 1950's, I do not remember seeing one when I was growing up. My mother always had a bean pot, but hers was the old fashioned kind, it was put into the oven to make amazing baked beans. This pot had it's own electric unit that heats up, really hot as a matter of fact, and I have used it for several types of soups, beans and of course baked beans. I want another for our daughter and I will bet that Mike will have one eventually! And did I mention that it had never been used!
You simply must check it out. Don't forget to go downstairs, and open that exterior door while you are down there to see what treasures Mike has outside.
