DAAH! 12/12/2010

Oh you know, same ingredients, different sauce, like any other thai restaurant. typical. i think they're actually going bankrupt. they are poorly managed to boot. the manager is actually a 18 year old kid who thinks he's high and mighty. this restaurant was only taken over so some dude can make his multi-millionaire ex wife jealous and he failed horribly. the only meat i do consider fresh is the chicken. HA. Their food isn't very thai, it's something else. the owner can't even be a leader. everybody is leaving. i do however like my phad thai. they are too illiterate and understaffed to run their idea of ""fast paced"". more

WARNING! Stay away from Lemon Grass! 10/16/2010

I urge everyone to stay away from this place. If you are going to get something to eat before or after a movie there are a number of better places to go near the Cedar Lee. If you want Thai food there are so many Thai restaurants in and around Cleveland that are better than this place. This restaurant and its owner do not care about service. You may get your food but it will be service with a scowl and a scoff. They gave me truly awful service. I see that other people on this web site have had similar, terrible experiences at this place. I also see that a server had the audacity to try to defend his lousy service. Save yourself a headache. Do not go here. more

Horrifying customer service- worst experience ever! 10/16/2010

This was the worst experience I have ever had. My wine tasted disgusting, possibly rancid. So I asked if I could have a different glass of wine. The waiter looked confused, came back and said the manager actually said they would not replace the wine, that I had to pay for what I ordered and drink that!! Have you ever heard of a restaurant saying that?? Meanwhile, we had ordered our food just a few minutes before but I was so irritated, we decided to leave. I PAID FOR our drinks that we didnt drink and we went across the street to Dewey's Pizza. Well, the manager/owner of Lemongrass (a small young looking asian man with a pony tail) actually followed us into Dewey's, started yelling at us in front of everybody, demanding payment for our meal that we didnt even eat (or have served to us at all). I said NO I was not going to pay for it and to call the cops if he wanted. Well, HE DID. He called the freakin' cops. My boyfriend went back across the street to take care of it but thery ended up making him pay for a meal we never ate!! Can you believe this??? Absolutely horrifying customer service. Tell everyone you know that the Lemongrass is terrible. more

Worst Meal Ever- and RUDE! 6/23/2010

This is the worst Thai food I've ever had. I eat at Tree Country and Peppermint and Mint at least once a week. I ordered the ""Tofu Jade Noodle"" dish. Instead of getting the bright green noodles I'm used to, they were grey. Instead of vegetables stir fried (like the noodles were supposed to be), they were clearly steamed and barely cooked. It tasted just like it looked- wet and grey. When I complained the dimwit server (grant) said ""well that's how we've done it for 6 years,"" like that made it all better. I sent it back but it was left on the table. I ordered a substitute dish (panang curry) which was no better but at least not inedible. When I got my bill they had the NERVE to put both on my bill, then fight with me because ""that's how they make the noodle dish"" and ""all restaurants don't make it the same."" The rude heavyset hostess/bartender/manager had the nerve to curse me under her breath as I told her I would under no circumstances be paying. She told me that the food was left on my table so I had to pay-- like I could have taken it back myself? It was untouched! I plan on telling everyone I know how rude they are and how horrid the food is. TRY TREE COUNTRY! Never been disappointed! This is not even to mention the less than clean floor tiles, the tacky decor, and the bad atmosphere. I live two blocks away and will not let anyone I know return. Cons: horrible food, rude service, bad atmosphere more

glacial service 11/9/2008

We ate at the Lemon Grass last Saturday night after an early movie at the Cedar Lee Theater and experienced the slowest service in our dining memory. A half hour to have our drink orders taken, an hour before our food came. We heard grumbling from the other tables too. The manager was mildly apologetic but dd nothing to compensate us for this miserable excuse for service. With all the good restaurant choices in the Cedar Lee area it's the last time we'll eat there! Pros: Good Thai food Cons: Slower than slow service. Uncaring manager. more

Rude Wait Staff 5/21/2008

I used to be a big fan of Lemongrass, however the last time I visited their restaurant the wait staff was unforgiveably rude and one waitress even rolled her eyes when I attempted to add soup to my meal. I will never frequent their establishment again. Definitely not my loss. Pros: Food is decent price for the amount of food served Cons: Parking can be difficult, Rude wait staff more

Awesome Thai Food and Huge Menu! Vegetarian/ Vegan Friendly and will customize food. 4/7/2008

Lemongrass is one of my favorite restaurants in Cleveland. There's a lot to choose from, so I can keep going back and trying new things, and I do because everything I've tried is exceptional. The menu says 'no exceptions"" but they've just about always accommodated me and they're willing to leave an ingredient out, if necessary. They can make almost any dish vegetarian/vegan. The service is fast, which is great if you want to catch a movie at the Cedar Lee. Pros: Fast service great food! Cons: NA more

Consistently Excellent Thai Food 11/18/2007

My wife and I dine at Lemon Grass a couple times per month on average. While the deco is not going to wow you, we have ALWAYS found the quality and quantity of food to be excellent. Always freshly prepared, hot and tasty. Top it off with a Singha beer and you have the perfect night out. Pros: Great food, always fresh Cons: Atmoshpere is OK, but nothing extraordinary. more

Comfortable, classy, generally good food and service, but the menu never changes 7/12/2007

Lemon Grass greatly improved this Lee Road area, after it took over the former McDonalds space many years ago. The dining areas are attractive and there's a nice patio. The food served in the restaurant is generally good, but take out food seems to need improvement. Maybe this kind of food just doesn't travel well. It is prepared very quickly though. For some reason, their take out seafood has absolutely no flavor, and every shrimp has a mushy glob stuck to them I can't identify. Also, the string beans are always hard and fibrous. Pros: Good food, ambiance, service, parking (except while garage is under construction) Cons: Take out seafood and green beans suffer, way too much sauce, some dishes too oily more

always will go back! 1/17/2006

I have not been disappoint yet! The spring rolls are just a delight with the sweet dipping sauce... I always ask for extra to add to my rice and take home to use as a dressing. My girlfriend and I have our girls night out there maybe 2 time a year. The servce is great, noise is never a bother and we always leave with extra food. never got dessert yet...cause we are always full. Maybe on my Birthday...I'll try. Please try this place and take time to walk around. Pros: surrounding, seating quick, service Cons: never had one more

great food, great service 12/9/2005

i tried lemon grass via carry out so cannot speak to the sit-down service but the personel we encountered while going in to order & wait for our food were all very friendly and helpful, as they were on the phone when i called ahead with several questions. while the menu does specify ""no substitutions"" i had no problem when asking for an item to be left out of a dish - in my experience exclusions are treated differently than substitutions. the food was great - very fresh and enjoyed by those liking super hot to more mild tastes (as we were easily able to request our preference). i'll likely be back and my out-of-town visitors say they would revisit as well. Pros: courteous staff, food, quick service Cons: parking , not accessible (ADA) more

Stay away people who have food allergies.... 5/8/2005

I went to this resturant with high hopes for great Thai dinning which I miss since Cleveland doesn't have too much variety in dinning choices. I was shocked when saw the menu no exceptions, no additions, or subtutions. I thought well, I am pretty sure they wouldn't have a problem maybe minusing the egg out of my dish since I'm very alergic to eggs. The waiter stressed that there was no way that would be done for me. I asked isn't their food freshly made that it should be that much of a problem just not to drop an egg in the soup I wished to order. So I ended up not eating anything since most of the stuff had egg. And neither the waiter or manager seemed to care in the sightest. I have never had a problem at any restaurant like this before... Pros: great decor, great neighborhood Cons: Not very flexable, rude wait staff more

Excellent eats 5/26/2004

An evening at Lemon Grass makes for an enjoyable night. They have a nice selection of wines and excellent appetizers. Menus are very descriptive for the new comer and their hot indicators are pretty accurate. You wont leave hungry. Pros: Good wine, Excellent food, Usually no wait Cons: , Bathrooms more

Thai Restaurant 1/26/2004

This is a standard date for my husband and I. We stop at the Lemon Grass for dinner and walk over to Cedar Lee for a movie, then have a cup of cafe mocha at the Starbucks that is in between. It makes for a great night out and their food is great! more

Tasteful Experience 3/12/2003

I tried Thai for the first time at Lemongrass. I was pleased with not only the dining, but the atmosphere and service as well. Since then, I have tried several other Thai restaurant, inside and outside Cleveland. I have found Lemongrass to be the most satisfying experience. Pros: Comfortable, Broad Menu, Great Service Cons: Not open Sundays more

Lunch was not very good. 11/8/2002

I am willing to give this place another shot but I ate lunch there and I was quite disappointed. The food wasn't horrible but it was not very good either. Everything tasted like it had been prepared sloppily, with too much of one ingredient and not enough of another. The atmosphere was great; I love their little courtyard out back. The service was also very good. I want to come back--I hear it is better for dinner than lunch but I have not gone back yet. Pros: Outdoor Patio, Excellent Location, Excellent Service Cons: Food not good, Slightly Expensive, Menu is Strange more

Not so hot 5/16/2002

Everyone's always raving about this restaurant, but it's hardly the best Thai food in town -- not even the best on Lee Road. You can get a decent meal here, but the service is generally slow, the waitstaff isn't terribly educated about the menu, and you won't leave wanting to take your leftovers along. For a much better Thai-dining experience, try Mekong River just about two miles down the road. more
