Editorial review from Citysearch 10/4/2012

Purchased a car as of 05/25/2012 from a Steve Cummins at the Bobby Layman Dealership. The car was not what I wanted but he said I would get more for my money I agreed was happy than on 06/20/2012 I went to get plates for my car only to find out that the loan was not finalized, then have to pay for second thirty day tags for car. Steve said everything was fine just waiting on finance to finalize. So then I am like I thought everything was good he is like everything is don't worry. Day later loan was finalized but as I was on the road with my husband and our two little girls 7 and 1 traveling to Michigan the car breaks down will not crank u and might I say that I was in the middle of driving on the highway when the car stopped. Called Steve he says he would have to call me back with a tow info. Never received a call So I sat 4 hours on the side of the road with my baby's if it was not for my own roadside assistance i would not have made it home safely not to mention cancel family trip. So that Monday I had my car dropped off to their shop because they could pick my car up. They gave me a rental I was in the rental car until 08/25/2012 from 06/25/2012 and still nothing was done to my car it wasn't until I started screaming attorney general and lemon law they rushed to have car fixed I plan to sue for everything that has happened because there was most defiantly some shady things seeming that my car was once told that it would be covered to not covered to we are fixing it never happen riding in rental for months and now they want me to pay extra fees because i got nasty and inpatient with them can't wait to see them in court. more

Rip off sales!!!! 5/21/2012

My daughter in law bought a new car at bobby Layman. Almost a week and a half later they told her that the financing didn't go through and she had to return the car, which she did. She asked for her down payment back, and they refused to give it to her, they said they were keeping it for the ""milage"" she used! They insist that that is in the paper work she signed, however they have failed to produce said paper. The salesman, did everything to get her into a new car, when she actually wanted to buy a used car, then when they claim the financing fell through, they treated her awful. more

Salesman Throws Temper Tantrum 10/17/2011

I came dangerously close to buying a car from Bobby Layman Chevrolet. After 10 days (the allotted time on the contract to complete the sale) of waiting for their lender to verify my income and complete the financing, I contacted the salesman, Tom. When I informed him I was considering bringing the car back per my contractual right, he began screaming and cursing at me. He accused me of being everything he was during the sales process: deceptive, dishonest, manipulative, etc. I asked him to get my trade-in vehicle ready for pick up when I returned their car. The conversation ended when he yelled, ""I'm not going to f***king help you with anything"" and hung up on me. While completing the paperwork in the show room, I had the benefit of overhearing how the salesmen talk about their customers. Two of the salesmen were discussing how they were going to essentially ""punish"" a potential buyer by reducing the proposed trade-in value for not buying when promised. It is clear that the ""culture"" at Bobby Layman Chevrolet is one of taking advantage of buyers rather than helping them. There is no wrong in selling cars nor making a fair profit selling cars, but I advise anyone considering this dealership to steer clear and take your business elsewhere. P.S. While completing the paperwork, I asked if they had any coffee. I was escorted through the showroom to the service area and where my escort pointed to a coffee VENDING MACHINE. And when the salesman went to put gas in the vehicle, he came back with barely over half a tank... in an economy car. Lame. more

Stay away! 2/21/2011

I bought my car there 3 months ago. I had to replace a tire immediately due to it having a flat spot in it; only $100, nothing to go crazy about. Today I find out not only are my brake pads worn (inevitably will happen) but all the rotors were bad, and all the calipers were bad (1 caliper was actually completely stuck to the rotor); $1000 brake job. Not happy at all. Mechanic pretty much confirmed to me that theres no way that there wasnt signs of this 3 months ago. So I was sold a car with brakes that were a ticking time bomb. Not illegal by any means, but it should have been brought to my attention when I purchased it as is. Now I am just an unhappy customer that feels like he had one pulled over on him. I wont be back, nor will I refer anyone. *The above review was published on their Facebook page. Soon after posting, the guy who sold us our car called and was ranting and raving about the review. Completely unprofessional. Also, the review was deleted. Funny how we have called them multiple times since buying the car without ever getting a call back and when a truthful, bad review is posted, they're calling to cuss you out. Stay far away from this place. They're rude, unprofessional and obviously don't care that much about their customers. more

BOBBY LAYMAN RIP OFF 9/10/2010

I scheduled an appointment for my 2004 Trailblazer on Weds 9-8-2010 to have some service work done on Friday 9-10-2010 . I was told that they would and could get in first thing on friday morning and it would not be a problem. So I dropped it off at 5:30 AM in front of the garage door at the service department on Friday morning and my wife took me to work. We had'nt heard anything form them so we called around noon, only to be told that they didn't even get it in the shop yet. I get done at work at 2:30 pm and was told it should be done by then. Well at 1:30 Pm still have not got it into the shop ( said they were backed up)? Well the kicker is that they siad I was first on the list for Friday morning being that I scheduled so early through the week. HAHA what a joke!!! I will never go there for anything EVER AGAIN !! They LIE THEY TELL YOU ANYTHING TO GET YOU IN THE DOOR !!!! COMPLETE LIARS AND CHEATS. DON""T BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM OR HAVE ANY SERVICE DONE THERE YOU WILL BE SORRY!!!! more

Do not trust Bobby Layman's Used Cars 8/31/2009

We purchased a 2005 Kia Sorento about 6 weeks ago. We liked the vehicle when we saw it but we noticed immediately that the interior of the vehicle was FILTHY and I wondered how they could sit a vehicle like this on the lot..obviously they didn't even clean it but I thought if I could get a good deal, I wouldn't complain. There was a spare flat tire sitting in the back end because the salesman claimed they couldn't figure out how to mount it underneath but literally two days after bringing it home, we took it to a tire shop closeby and got it patched and the guy mounted it underneath with no problem. Pros: A Few Friendly Employees Cons: Lying Salesmen,Unreliable Vehicles, Do Not Satisfy Customers more
