Worst Dentist I've Ever Been To 11/7/2011

A co-worker recommended Dr. Anissi after we had just moved here from another state. The first visit I took my two kids to and myself for a cleaning and routine xrays. She tells me the kids have at least 5 or 6 decays and I had 3. I immediately had the kids decays filled and then went on to get mine started. She only used a local novacaine shot so just the gumline was a little numb but still could feel the touch. As she drilled I jumped out of the seat in pain, begging for more novacaine. She kept assuring me she had given me plenty. The cavity filling process with her was awful and my phobia of dentists has most likely worsened. I later mentioned to her that I had an old crown that food was getting stuck underneath. She said she could remove it and replace it with a new one for $500.00 (after insurance). I agreed and went ahead with this. She not only did not replace my old crown, she crowned the tooth next to it for some reason. I asked her why she was putting a crown on this tooth after the fact (I had no idea during what was going on). She claims my old crown covered one of my wisdom teeth, however, I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed already and that was the first she ever mentioned that. She became flustered and annoyed when I questioned this. I told her I now have two crowns next to eachother and for some reason having to floss twice as much as food is getting stuck under both (not a good fit or seal). She was defensive in answering my concerns and refused to admit any of this. Back to my children, we have since (6 months later) switched dentists and surprise surprise, Anissi not only sealed their teeth over old decay that she either missed or didn't pay attention to but ended up costing me more money in the long run had she not fixed the spots that were real decay. I would never recommend this dentist to anyone and wish I could report her to someone. more

Best dentist I have ever been to. 1/4/2010

I have been a patient of Dr. Anissi for over ten years now. Before that time, I visited other dentists in Rochester and was unsatisfied with their treatment. Dr. Anissi is extremely friendly, and very effective. My teeth are perfect! Also, a lot of other dental and medical offices look very run down and warehousey, but Dr. Anissi's office new office is beautiful. I recommend Dr. Anissi to anyone in Rochester who wants clean teeth. Don't believe anyone who says otherwise. Pros: friendly, professional, effective more

Beware 3/5/2009

I went to Dr. Anissi after a co-worker recommended her. The first time I went to have a cleaning, she informed me that I had a cavity. I was surprised because I had never had a cavity but I let her fill the cavity. Six months later I went to Dr, Anissi again for a cleaning. After her exam, Dr. Anissi informed me again that I had a cavity. This time, I went to another dentist and paid for a second opinion. This dentist informed me that while I had deep pits, I did not have a cavity -- he actually used a tool and pressed it into my teeth to check. Dr. Anissi did not use a tool, she just looked. I never let Dr. Anissi fill this second ""cavity"", and I switched dentists. I tried to report her, but had no luck with the dental association (how can you prove that you didn't have a cavity that she already filled?) and it was time-consuming so I stopped pursuing. In retrospect, I wish that I had hired a lawyer because I can never get back what she took from me. I never told my co-worker, because she seemed happy with her, but 3 years later, the co-worker called me specifically to ask about my experience with Dr. Anissi and I told her the truth. It's been 9 years since Dr. Anissi claimed I had a cavity, and to this date I have not had any other dentist tell me that I have a cavity. I'm not sure if Dr. Anissi actually thought that I had a cavity, but I would not recommend her. Insurance doesn't cover ""second opinions"" for consumers to find out if they actually have a cavity, so better to go to another dentist. more
