If you want to waste MONEY and TIME 4/6/2008

If you want to waste money and time come to Brawta!!! The service was horrible, the waitress was very NASTY. She rolled her eyes, stomped her feet and was just flat out nasty. I didn't know who was acting worst her or my 3 year old son!!!! there was nothing for my son to eat other than the Mac & Cheese. I asked for chicken wing with out the spicy sauce for him, our waitress took it upon herself to add sauce to the wings. I think you should ask if you would like sauce rather than just adding it. Needless to say that my son never ate the wings yet I paid for them to keep the peace. After waiting the 25 minute wait time that they tell you about for seafood, my fush was DRY and had NO flavor. more

Lousy Food 5/25/2007

We went to this place on Mother's Day and it was the worst experience ever. The service was slow and to top it iff one of the waitresses was wearing a sleveless shirt and you could see a fist full of underarm hair showing.....can you say YUK!!!! more

Horrible Experience 4/16/2005

The food was late, cold and average. Don't waste your money. The service was also terrible. more

Recommend 4/18/2004

I really enjoyed my visit. I went on a Sunday night and it was a full house but we were seated within minutes. This is definitely a place to eat if your not in a rush. For the other comments about the long wait time for the food, it clearly states on the menu that there is at least a 20 minute wait for ALL seafood orders. At least you know your getting it fresh. I would definitely recommend this as layed back, not snooty at all. more

some like it hot!! 9/12/2003

I was there for brunch...it was a packed house..with one waitress who really held the place down. she was pleasent and as attentive as one could be working brunch w/o help...I use to wait tables in college...she made a Brawta lover out of me!!! Pros: great food, Inexpensive, beautiful astomospher Cons: no liquor more

Everyt'ing irie 9/2/2003

Have been going to Brawta since it was a small take out shop with three tables. The food is consistently good. Excellent curry, roti, escovitch and curry chicken patties. And the ginger beer and other drinks are mostly homemade and fiery. Pros: Shrimp curry, Roti, Ginger beer more

I fell in love here 7/7/2003

The jerk shrimp, brown stew red snapper, roti, chicken I could go on and on. I haven't tried a dish on the menu I didn't like. Great atmosphere, great service they make you feel like a regular even on your first visit (which definately won't be your last). The only down side is they don't sell alcohol but you can always bring your own bottle of wine (or beer) and they'll supply the opener and glasses. There's a cool bar next door (great people there too) if you forget to BYOB. Pros: great food, great vibes, great service Cons: BYOB more

Delicious 4/6/2003

I can't stop thinking about the red snapper brown stew I had at Bratwa this weekend. Absolutely fantastic. The place isn't rock-bottom cheap, but the BYOB policy lets you save a bundle on wine. Pros: Great food, Only one bathroom, Small more

good food but expensive! 2/12/2003

Took my rents out for dinner November of last year (2002). Cost of the meal plus a drink each? a cool 100. Not bad if you make 50K per annum. If you're a struggling-whatever like I am, that sets you back to ramen and cereal for the next three weeks. Pros: good food, decent service Cons: very small place, thusly, very loud, very darkly lit more

Simply Smashing! 2/10/2003

This place has the best authentic Jamaican food I have tasted in all of New York> I have dined here several times and refute the other user's review, which labeled the place burgeios. I always heave a great dining experience. The ambience is great for a quick bite to eat w/ friends or your lover. My favorite dish is the pineapple chicken. I also recommed the freshly made juices like the ginger blend and breat/potato pudding for dessert. The colorful decor is inviting and cool and urban chic. This place is a real treat! The only drawback is the service can be a bit slow if you do take-ou, but the dine-in service is satisfactory. Pros: Food, Inexpensive Cons: Service more

Brawta why are you so slow 1/24/2003

We have been to Brawata on a few occasion, after reading some of these reviews I will definitely have to check our bill next time. The food is good, warning, don't order anything seafood related if you don't have all day to wait. The women who are the waitresses, tend to be distracted and they wear very high heel, I do not know if that is what is keeping them from moving at a faster pace. The tables are definitely rocky. Overall not bad, a bit pricey. Pros: close, convientent, has take out Cons: hlep too slow, prices, seafood take too long more
