I almost want to keep this place a best kept secret for the Upper East Side. The staff are friendly, the place is casual and clean, and the food is an AMAZING deal--it's really good and it's reasonably priced. For $8, you can buy a half carafe of the house cabernet ($2/glass!). The salads there are my favorite--not only are they huge, they always include pricey ingredients (avocado, fresh mozzarella or goat cheese, shitake mushrooms, grilled shrimp, palm hearts, artichokes...) but only cost $9. The pasta dishes are equally priced and generous in portion size and also come with vegetable sides. Let's also not forget the bread, which always arrives perfectly warm. \r
The place is cash only, but considering wine+two enormous entrees costs $30-something, it's never really been a problem.
Pros: Casual and Friendly, Cheap and generous portions
