Chapala's Mexican Restaurant

We had a mediocre lunch. Usually, the food is very tasty but we were disappointed, this time. The refried beans were dried out, old and not appetizing. The cheese enchiladas tasted like there was an unwelcome flavor of cardamom added. Above all - if you chance dining here - watch the total of your bill. The cashier added sales tax on top of the already entered sales tax, to our bill at the register! Since we had two separate bills, we considered this to be an oversight on the first one but the same entry for more tax was totaled onto the second bill, as well! more

Hi everyone! Well, I'm so excited because I just discovered I can actually write a review on my own. The first thing that came to mind was Chapala's Mexican Restaurant. When I want the best Mexican food in town, hands down, this is it. Don't expect to taste the typical Mexican (Americanized) cuisine. This is not the harsh, in your face, too many raw onions and bell peppers menu. The ingredients are fresh, the flavors are delicate and savory, and the ambiance is low key and comfortable. My favorite is the cheese enchilada with ranchera sauce. The avocado salad is a meal in itself. The chips are actually made there and arrive at the table nice and warm. And they just came out with a new corporate menu that they'll deliver to your office. The variety and price will please everyone, even my boss! Hey, thanks for taking the time to read my opinion. I have been coming to this restaurant for the last 18 years and it has only gotten better. The cheese enchiladas are the best in town. Our favorite date night is a delish Chapala's meal and then visiting the $2 movie theatre across the street. \r Everyone I've taken from out of town has loved it! i love the chips at chapalas very much. the chips are always hot. my all time favorite thing right now at chapalas is the tilapia fillet . it is soooooooo good . it tastes very good with their awsome mararitas. everything is very authentic there ,and i can't find a place like it in vegas.:) Pros: good food good mararitas good low price Cons: can't think of any more

I found a 2/1 coupon in the print edition of the RJ. We dined at the Tropicana location approximately 4 years ago. It took awhile for anyone to wait on us after being seated, but we eventually were served industrial taco chips and two bottled salsas. Our cheese enchiladas were accompanied by the usual refried beans, dried out Spanish rice and iceberg lettuce salad. The enchiladas were tasty, but everything else was very mediocre. Just moved from L.A. Looking for new ""favorite"" Mexican restaurant. After shopping Trader Joe's (in the same plaza), stopped here to check it out. The big waitress (name I can't pronounce) is most friendly and laughs freely. She devotes all of her attention to each customer, like she's your Mamacita. The margaritas are excellent as is the food. I found new food not seen in L.A. Margarita and dinner less than $10! I've never seen that in L.A. I've definately found a new home. Pros: Cozy atmosphere, Inexpensive, Good parking more

This was the worst Mexican dining experience that I have ever had. The restaurant on S. Decatur was terrible. The only thing on my plate that was decent was the rice. The beans tasted like baby food. The enchiladas were very bland and the fajitas were under par. Also, the service was even worse than the food. My wife and I were completely ignored by the waitress for 25 minutes. I have never had a bad meal here . I eat at the Chapala's on Tropicana at least twice per week. I have not yet tried the restaurant on Decator. But I am sure to try it soon ! The beans and rice are authenic. The cheeses are superb. Try their cheese enchiladas. Everything is cooked to perfection. The female hostesses are drop dead gorgeous!! All- in- all, a totally fulfilling experience. Eat there if you are just visiting or even if you are a local like myself. You won't be disappointed.
