Editorial review from Citysearch 10/15/2012

Took my car there to get inspected the end of September, they failed my car, said it needed tie rods, steering linkage, and bushings. Estimate came in at $1100.00. Did not get the work done, paid the inspection fee and left. A few days later I took the car back to the garage I bought it from and funny, it passed inspection with no probs. DO NOT TAKE ANY VEHICLE TO CHESHIRE TIRE AND AUTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Deceitful shop 1/23/2012

my Girlfriend brought her car down to get an inspection sticker, the mechanic failed her and handed her a bill for almost 1,100.00 and when some of the parts that had recently been replaced were on that list we thought it was kind of funny. so we brought it to a garage we trusted and didnt tell them what tire warehouse had said, simply to check it for the repairs needed to pass inspection. sure enough none of the parts which had been replaced less than 10,000 miles ago had been on that list! when i called to make a complaint about them saying they were simply taking advantage of a young woman who didnt know what needed to be fixed in her car, i was simply told that they could show me and that all of my other exp. and garages information was wrong. I work and managa a business locally and i will tell you as a consumer to just not waste your time and go to leons in keene. more

Given False Information 11/9/2011

Monday afternoon I dropped my vehicle off at Cheshire because I had scheduled an appointment on Tuesday to have snow tires put on and my brake light was coming on. I had asked if my car could be ready between 3 and 4 pm on Tuesday. I called on Tuesday around 10 because I hadn't heard re: the brake light diagnosis. I was told ""We've been trying to get in touch with you (I had been sitting at my desk all morning.) I was told my brake line needed to be flushed. I asked again to have the car ready between 3 and 4. I called back at 3:30. When I asked if I could come and get my car ~ I was told by ""Bill"" ""That shouldn't be a problem"" (which means what?). I pressed further and said, ""Do I have your word that if I leave work right now the car will be ready when I get there."" He said yes. I got there 15 minutes later. My car was not even in the building and I was told the brake line had not even been worked on yet!!!!!! They said they would give me a ride back to work. I said I wanted my car - they began work on it immediately. The manager gave me excuses like, ""we are way too busy"", ""there were too many customers today with the same last name as yours - we got confused."" The place was chaos! The people behind the counter couldn't even find my original paper work. How comfortable does that make me feel? I am sorry to say that after 12 years of using Cheshire Tire for my vehicle service needs I do not feel confident in their ability to keep me and my car safe! I will go elsewhere in Keene. more

Not too impressed 11/4/2011

Being a Senior at KSC, I have had the opportunity to work with Cheshire Tire for the past two years that I have been able to have my car on campus. So when it came time to register and inspect my car and I asked for opinions, naturally this establishment came up as a decently priced and nearby location for inspections. To be honest, I know next to NOTHING of cars. I know how to change assorted fluids, give an oil change, and change wiper blades. That's it. So I was thrilled when I went to the front desk and the worker [who's name I sadly forget] literally told me every single thing that he would inspect and what would need to be done. And when I asked about my squeaky breaks, he quickly eased my fears, saying they needn't be replaced for about another 2,000 miles. However, my second time has not been as enjoyable. I went to get my car inspected for a second time, and I was shocked to discover that I needed to spend $300 that I didn't have to get a speed sensor replaced on two tires. However, another man thankfully came and sat beside me, explaining once more, saying that if I ordered them that day [it was a Friday] that the part would be in on Sunday. I wasn't able to order the part that day, however, because I needed to consult my parents about the purchase. When I placed the order on that following Monday, I was told that I would be called when the part arrived and could have it put in, which was said to be the next day or two. However, today is Saturday, and no matter how many times I've called and asked for information, I've been told that they would call me within a few minutes, or first thing the next morning with my answer. I've called every day, and have yet to get an answer! Is it so hard to get an answer about a part? You'd think that they'd be more willing to answer me when I am inquiring about when I can pay them money that I can't afford. It's almost 10am on Saturday, and you can certainly bet that I will be calling them within about a half an hour asking for answers, yet again. And this time, if I don't get answers, I'm going to say I'll look elsewhere for this part. This is getting ridiculous. While some of the workers are very helpful and obviously want to answer your questions, it's insane that it has been almost a week since I ordered a part that I was told would only take a day to get in, and I still don't have answers. I was supposed to go on a road trip today, and I'm actually thankful that it was cancelled because I don't feel comfortable driving a car that hasn't passed inspection yet. So, in all, if I could give a suggestion, go elsewhere. Currently, the cons outweigh the pros in my opinion. Yes. Elsewhere is good. more

Been going to Cheshire Tire for the better part of 20 years -- some mechanical work, but mostly tires. I don't have space to store my own, so they do it for me. But not any more. more
