I've had my hair cut a few times at this location and had good experiences. I hadn't been for a while since I wasn't crazy about my last cut. Yesterday I went as a walk in (big mistake this time) and ended up with a new hairdresser. The girl at the front desk told me she was ""really good!"", but I would never have gone ahead with the cut if I'd known how limited the girl's experience was. Turns out she'd only been there 2 weeks, and I would venture the guess that 2 weeks is the extent of her experience anywhere. I brought a picture to show how I wanted my hair, and also told her I did NOT just want a shorter version of the existing haircut. Told her I wanted layers and lots of framing around the face. Made sure to point out that I wanted a style not just shorter hair. She seemed to understand. She very carefully and slowly cut one long length and then one shorter length as the layer. At that point she acted like she was done and I had to remind her about the face framing. She cut a small portion shorter. After she'd dried it to see if I liked it better, I told her it wasn't at all what I'd asked for and showed her the picture again. To point out how bad it was: I have never complained to a stylist about a haircut before. She kept trying to trim here and there at which point I realized she really only knew how to cut long hair in one style. All one length from front to back with another layer all one length a bit higher up. She started asking me what she should cut to get the look I wanted..yeah, I'm not the hairdresser here, I don't know how to get the look. She was very sweet but obviously not trained enough. After a lot of effort, I finally gave up because I was afraid she'd mess it up worse. It's a horrible, disappointing haircut and I wish to goodness I could get someone else to fix it. My last haircut from a different salon, people raved about the cut and wanted to know where I got it. Unfortunately that salon closed. This one is the kind where people say ""did you cut your hair?..it looks..shorter."" The bad thing is, with such a limited budget, I can't go somewhere else to fix it. Very unhappy with the fact that they would put such an inexperienced hairdresser as the one to take walk-ins without letting people know. She did say to call her back if I wasn't happy when I got home and played with it. Since she didn't know how to cut it to start with, I can't see how that would help. I will not return to Mitchell's again. more

Great Gals!! 8/10/2008

Mitchell's at Stonehenge is a GREAT place to get your hair done. There is a pretty good mixture of girls there who all seem to be very friendly and knowledgeable about their work. The environment is not all rush, rush, rush and over the top. The stylists there seem to take their time to get it right. They seem glad to have you in their chair. They all seem to get along well with one another and it really seems like it would be a fun place to work. Several of the stylists have done my hair, both cutting and coloring (highlights), and I have been very satisfied with the results. Their prices are not cheap but they are not exorbitant, either. All in all, to me, Michell's at Stonehenge is doing something right!!! Pros: Talented stylists, friendly atmosphere Cons: limited parking in front of store more

Leave the beginners alone 8/17/2006

As a call-in during my lunch hour Mitchell's wasn't the best experience. I had to wait 15 minutes and then remind the front I was on my lunch hour that's why I had made that appointment. Then ""I knew"" I had a newer hairdresser although I had not asked for anyone in particular (remember I was new to the store). I explained the cut I wanted, I have fairly medium to longer hair - wanted two layers close together to flip out at the bottom. I descibed what I wanted with people the hairdresser didn't know. Shame on me. I knew the back had to be evened out. She showed me how much she wante to cut off (about 2 1/2 inches) and I said ok. Well it's been about 3-4 weeks now and I'm still upset. It's like JENNIFER/JEN never listened to me in the first place or just decided she wanted to cut away according to what schooling she had that I've never heard of. My hair is that thin/but have a lot of, it with color that's lifted with summer. She PUT a layer in my hair 4 inches from the bottom length of my hair. I can no longer just dry my hair and go. I can't just pull-back part of it. Didn't anyone ever teach her that thin hair takes years to grow even and that even damaged you don't chop it off unless asked. So she takes 2 1/2 from the length and then 6 total from parts of the side not all of the back. I have parts that I just can't figure out what to do with. I would suggest that if you get this person you also have the manager co-consult because no consideration for what kind of hair I had or the condition it was in was made; and I'm sorry two layers 4 inches apart... I was upset enough by the end of the week to go back and talk to the manager of the store and she said that in 2 months or so she would try to help reshape the cut... well how nice in two months or so... I really did try not to be the person who had to say something, but when friends say what happened to your hair... And yes, the hairdresser was a nice person... Pros: Very nice store, management on top of things Cons: Level of experience and front desk response more
