We came for our Fat Tuesday Pancake Breakfast before giving up lots of Carbs for Lent. It was fabulous. Everybody was super happy with everything we had. Thanks for a great start to the day more

This is one of my favorite date restuarants. Every guy I have dated for the last five years has had to pass the ""Classic Cup"" test. If he can order dessert and coffee that I like, he gets another date ;) Of course, it's pretty easy to do since I have never had a bad experience there. I can even remember having dinner there one night and getting to witness a proposal! It is a real gem! more

We settled on this location after walking the plaza area up and down. I was pleasantly surprised. I had the swordfish with a mango salsa, which was fantastic. Additionally, I sampled other plates on the table which included: the beef medallions, filet mignon, and stuffed salmon. Everything was fantastic and I will certainly be back! more

The Classic Cup is a good place to spend a leisurely weekend morning reading the paper and people watching. The food is good and the portions are appropriately sized, unlike the mountain of food that you get at some of the chains these days. Service is friendly and attentive. In warm weather, ask for a seat on the sidewalk or out back on the patio. more

Recommended to this place by family while visiting. It's very quaint and the patio is great! I would highly recommend the soups. We tried the curry cauliflower and chicken tortilla and both were delicious! Very enjoyable fall afternoon. more

I'm going to rave the Duck Risotto at this place. The duck is pan fried, served over risotto, drizzled with duck broth, and a hint mango/cranberry/blueberry sauce. If you haven't tried duck before, this is a great place to try it. more

Outdoor seating on a perfect evening weather-wise, great food, beer and service. The goat cheese ravioli was excellent, the chicken sub very good and the bread terrific. Highly recommended. more

My wife went for lunch with several employees visiting from out of town (ahhhh, the joys of corporate dining per diems). The lady's all raved about the soups, salads and sandwiches. I did get leftovers (apparently a table full of women are incapable of finishing their meals!?!), which were quite good, even several days later. I guess I really need to try the place out for myself. Maybe even breakfast with the family. more

I had flat iron steak with potato cake, asparagus spears and green beans with some mini grapes. Very good and the service was superb. It's small but we didn't have to wait on a Saturday evening. Half or more of patrons ate on one of two patios. more

This is my favorite place for breakfast in KC, and the lunch menu is great as well. But the best part of Classic Cup is dining on the front patio. Observe Plaza excitement and crowds while sipping on high quality imported coffee. For my money, they serve the best Eggs Benedict in town, and their signature pancakes -with a slightly tangy zing- are as big as your face. more

Utter Disappointment 1/28/2012

Hadn't been to the Cup for a couple years. Went last night (1/27/2012) and was totally disappointed. My beloved medium rare beef tenderloin medallions were delivered without a drop of moisture left in the meat. I could've gotten this at Western Sizzler for 1/10 the price. more

Over-rated,Under-served 12/20/2010

I have lived in Kansas City for over eight years, and until tonight The Classic Cup had been an elusive mystery to me. I always saw the charming sidewalk cafe on The Plaza, but had never ventured in. Turns out I was not missing anything. Tonight a group of six friends of which I was one decided to dine at The Classic Cup. A reservation was made the day before with discussion about our party being seated near the fireplace. Naturally, we were all surprised when we noticed the management putting two tables together in the back corner of the restaurant (right in front on the rest room). Of course after we waited 30 or 40 minutes we were eager to sit down. Its just unfortunate that we had to wait so long for a solution they could have employed the moment we walked in. On to the food...the food was decent, nothing spectacular. Our appetizer came to the table after some entrees had been delivered, which was the first problem, the second problem is found in that we clearly did not get the right appetizer. Two members of our party were served the wrong entrees as well. We brought this to the attention of our waiter, and no solution was offered. In fact, he still placed an up-charge for adding chicken to a dish that I did not even receive. A server rotated the dining room regularly filling water glasses, and once she refilled my Sprite, however our waiter never offered any refills to the party. Overall I would sum this place up as over-rated and under-served, please know that the management is unapologetic about this also. I agree with previous comments regarding the managements apparent aloofness. Don't waste your time plenty of other good options on the plaza that appreciate your business. more

so sad 10/24/2009

I have loved Classic Cup for almost 20 years. About 4 or 5 years ago my husband thought it was going down. The service, he thought, wasn't the greatest and he believed it took forever to get a meal. I fought him on it and whenever I was able to pick a special place to go,it was Classic Cup. more
