Worst experience, Very disappointed 2/10/2012

Was really excited to try this establishment. Went early on a sat night and was told when we arrived that they were out of tzaski sause. That should have been the warning not to continue, but had the whole family with me. We ordered and was so disapointed in the shiskkabob. The driest piece of meat I have ever had, it had the dryness of the middleeastern desert. more

Best Place for Breakfast 2/6/2012

Found this cute little place when looking for a meeting spot for friends. I can't explain how much I love this place. Great food! Great service! Had the eggs benedict there many times and their Hollandaise sauce is perfect! We loved it so much, we went there every week for months! more

Cheap low quality food! 9/9/2010

I tried this place because of the great reviews it has, however I was very disappointed. I tried the gyro which wasn't the best and the tzatziki sauce was gross. My girlfriend had a buffalo chicken sandwich and that too was awful. Low quality, processed food, but I guess you get what you pay for. Our meal totaled $19. Maybe the breakfast is better? more

Best NY Greek Diner in STL 4/28/2010

Hands down the best diner in town. These folks have been feeding me and my friends for over 25 years. If you're wanting abience and chatty servers, go somewhere else. If you want good, no-nonsense food, then this is your place. They have a great breakfast menu including a bunch of different omelettes and pancakes. Their lunch/dinner menu includes daily specials including some Greek standards. One room is for smokers and those who don't care, the other room is smoke-free. Pros: Good diner food more

breakfast all day 11/23/2008

I've been here quite a few times for breakfast and have always been satisfied. The have an interesting selection of omlets and the Gyro's are great. The service is better if you sit at the bar. more

Incredible Gyros 5/2/2008

I've been here twice, once for breakfast and once for dinner. Both times my mouth was overjoyed. Their gyros are great. If you are a fan of greek food, then this is the place to go. Pros: Outside seating, location Cons: dull inside more

rude 4/19/2008

Usually I have a great time at the Majestic but last time, Saturday, that I went, the bartender was the rudest person I ever meet. I used to go there a lot but now I will never go there again. Extremely rude. Pros: Breakfest all the time Cons: Rude staff more

Decent 10/24/2007

Comming in with high hopes from the hype we had heard, we were a little let down. The water boy was the most redeeming quality about the place. Our waitress was not very personable and a kept us waiting. We had to ask another waitress for our check and we didn't even get a goodbye. We both had egg dishes and they were nothing write home about. The experience was mediocre overall. Pros: Quick beverage delivery, lots of menu options Cons: unfriendly and slow wait staff more

Love the gyro... 6/9/2007

As a college student who lives in the Central West End, I find few dining experiences more enjoyable than heading to the Majestic after a day of classes for a Coke and a Gyro Plate in the dead of a St. Louis winter (which is only about a month and half though). Sometimes, my friends and I will plurge for the Greek salad as well. I love their gyros; they're full of fresh (and juicy) lamb with lots of onions and Taziki (?) sauce. They're not for the faint-of-heart though since they're a lot to finish. As for the Majestic itself, I love the expansive windows in the diner that look out on Euclid. During the summer, you can look into the diner as you sit outside, blissfully unaware of the bustle around you. My father frequented this diner nearly 40 years ago, and unlike Tom's Bar and Grill right up the street, it didn't sell out for atmosphere. If anything, it has the best atmosphere for a diner since it isn't frequented by the ""suits."" Pros: Cheap but quality food, friendly service, great neighborhood, gyros (+++) Cons: A bit ""smoky"" even for a diner more

One of the few great diners left in St. Louis 2/4/2006

The Majestic Cafe is a dive, but a great dive. If you go expecting elegance or fine dining you will be disappointed. This is a diner with Greek overtones. The food is good, but you're better off sticking with the basics; pancakes and sausage, a burger, or a gyros. The lack of pretense is exactly the appeal of the Majestic. It's a real place in a land of ""pre-fab"" pretenders. It's inexpensive, the service prompt and friendly, and the atmosphere is great. As for ""not being romantic"", if your idea of romance is linen, candlelight and expensive wine, no the Majestic is not romantic. But if your idea of romance is a long lunch or breakfast in deep conversation with someone you respect, or simply sitting quietly and sharing the Sunday paper, the Majestic Cafe is the most romantic place in town. Pros: Tasty, Inexpense, down-to-earth Cons: closes too early more

Disappointing - not recommended 7/2/2002

A friend and I went here for lunch, and the waitress took forever (there were maybe 14 people there). The greek salad consisted of a bag mix garnished with a slice of cucumber, a wedge of tomato, approximately a pound of sharp feta cheese, a load of dried basil, and vinegary dressing. The saganaki was lit at our table with a Bic, but it failed to catch and all we could taste was rum. The gyro platter was decent, but skimpy on the veggies. However, I'll note that I usually hate steak-style fries, and I ate most of my friend's order - they were crispy and perfect. I guess I went here with the wrong expectations, but the next time I want good food with a greek twist at reasonable prices, I'll go to Michael's on Manchester. Pros: inexpensive, location Cons: parking, service, food not so hot more

Great Breakfast 6/21/2002

There Breakfast are the best. There Biscuts and Gravy are AWESOME!! Have had nothing but good experiances there. The Decor is not much but the food is good and a graet value. Pros: Food, portins, Value Cons: Decor more
