It's never fun to pay almost $100 for something that makes you feel self-conscious. I bought a trubates deal for The Fox Den in June and was super excited to try this rad, little place. I like supporting small businesses, too. I just wanted a trim with some long layers and a partial foil. Well, I ended up with one deep layer that was higher than chin-length all the way around my head, and no blending to the ends. Plus, that one layer was deeper on one side, so it was very noticeable. So noticeable that even my hubby pointed it out (and he's the type of guy to not even notice when I cut 6 inches off my hair!). The toner in my high lights (I got carmel-colored toner) washed out in less than two weeks, so I ended up with my dark brown hair with bleached highlights, which is NOT the look I want. I use appropriate shampoo, too, so it may be they are using cheaper products for toning. The lighting wasn't very good in the shop, so when looking at my layers with a hand mirror before leaving, I couldn't really see the horrible layering job, so left happy. But when I got home and looked again, I cried. I actually when with a friend from work, who also bought a trubates deal. She also cried over her hair and refused to go back to let them fix it. She had asked for a blunt cut with full-foil and left with a frizzed out, feathered-layering job and it didn't even look like she got high lights!!! She ended up paying MORE at her usual salon to get it all re-done. Since both of us shed tears over our results, I can't say many positive things about this salon, other than the people were very nice and hip, the shop is adorable and funky-retro. But hair-wise, we do not recommend it :(. Which really stinks, we WANTED to have a good experience, obviously, we spent almost a hundred bucks! You know?
