I have lived two blocks away for two years and FINALLY got there. Having read the other reviews on city search I went in with low expectations all around, but had a GREAT night. ...

The New Location for The Comedy Connection is Horrible 9/12/2008

I went to see Robert Kelly last night at The Comedy Connection at The Wilbur Theater. I thought they must have turned it into a club but it is just another theater and not the way to enjoy Kelly . I have loved him for years and seen him for many years. I use to see him with Dane Cook at The Vault years ago and have enjoyed him every time. He was great everytime but not last night. He was supper but the place isn't right for comedy. I will try again but I don't thinks so. more

Didn't turn the heat on on a Wednesday night 1/2/2008

I went to Comedy Connection last night and was very frustrated when the heat was obviously not turned on inside. The temperature outside was below zero with the wind chill factor and the club itself was frigid. There was a very small audience there, many of whom kept on their winter jackets throughout the show. Even some of the comics performed in their coats. At a place where you need to buy at least two expensive drinks to stay, I would have expected at the very least a comfortable sitting atmosphere. Furthermore, the comics themselves were mostly mediocre and our waitress' demeanor matched the temperature perfectly. An underwhelming experience. Pros: Location Cons: Very cold, drink requirements more

Price way too high for what you get in return 11/11/2007

This was such a waste of money!! It is like $28 for an hour show! They pack you in the place like sardines--you have no room. The service is slow and the drinks watered down. Some people don't even get tables! It was cold inside as well. There were only 2 comics. The headliner wasn't even funny--he was vulgar and not in a good way--I don't mind swearing etc., but toliet humor is not amusing. I didn't need to hear about this guy's bowl movements at a Target. I felt like I spent a lot of money for very average humor. I laughed more at an amateur night at a different place. Go to Kowloon--it is cheaper, warmer, you have a table and there are always 3 comics. Pros: Can't find one Cons: too expensive, poor drink quality, too crowded, not funny! more

Very impersonal and I felt like cattle being herded to my seat. Show wasn't bad but Steve Sweeney never chages his material. 10/23/2007

I have been there 4 different times and it was never funny or special. I was told Steve Sweeney was Mr. Boston Comedy but I saw him a year ago and the show was the same. Does he ever change his act at all. The opening act was funny. The service was terrible and everything was too expensive. I will never be back. KM Pros: My date was cute. Cons: Steve Sweeney and the service more

Never again. 5/24/2006

Service was bad, comics were vulger, to many drunk and no control. Pros: good opening act Cons: Show, Staff, drinks more

If your looking for bad service and rude staff 4/14/2006

then this is your place. If you want to spend your nigh watching 2nd rate comics, pay huge amounts of money on crappy beer, abd have really bad service, I have a place for you..... In a word "horrible." Pros: none Cons: too many to list more

GREAT - going back again soon 2/1/2006

I have lived two blocks away for two years and FINALLY got there. Having read the other reviews on city search I went in with low expectations all around, but had a GREAT night. It was a quiet Wednesday with maybe 30 people in the crowd, but they put up five comics and, best of all, the MC Harrison who had the limited audience dying. Of the 6 acts, one bombed, three were very funny, and two just killed getting the small crowd very fired up. The food is terrible, as is the service, but the drinks are fine and I would imagine a healthy tip early in the night would keep the waitress checking on you. Go with $15 and a good attitude and you will have really good time. Pros: Good acts, Cheap Cons: Bad Food, Bad Service, Small Crowd more

Ya'd think they'd do more... 8/4/2003

...for 17 bucks. Per person. An hour long show? What evuh. OK -- so maybe I am used to NYC nad LA comedy clubs... 15-20 bucks per person gets you at LEAST 90 minutes (opener and three comics). I am disenchanted. I expected a "marquee" comedy joint in this infamous, social part of town would offer more. *sigh* Won't be returning any time soon. more

HAHA-What a waste of money! 2/15/2003

The place is not worth your money or time. The jokes are plain and the show is only 1 hour. You come there to have a good time but you come out disappointed and cheated. DONT PICK THIS PLACE IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD NIGHT OUT! Pros: None Cons: Not Funny, Smoky, Cold more

Hilarious!! 7/19/2002

My husband and I just moved to the Boston area and we love comedy clubs......so we were looking for something good in the area. We found it! The Comedy Connection was great....the comic was wonderful and the atmosphere was welcoming. I definitely recommend this comedy club. Pros: Close to T more

  • The Scene
Located on the second floor of the Faneuil Hall Marketplace, the Connection occupies a huge, rectangular space (there's waitress service for drinks and appetizers) and feels more like a fancy high-school auditorium than a nightclub. Though the Connection draws its share of locals, it also loops in the tourist crowd by booking familiar faces from television sitcoms and movies.
