I went to Sine Qua Non after my sister in law had recommended it. I wanted a long bob. Things started off well, until my stylist started washing my hair. There was no hot water. She made an excuse about the hot water tank being empty at the end of the day. Not a big deal, but things got worse.
Yola started cutting my hair and I noticed how she started cutting my hair very short, much shorter than what I had asked for. While cutting the back of my hair, she opened up my smock to cut near my neck, which left a ton of hair down my back and on my shirt. When she was done cutting, she said her next appointment was here and that the assistant would finish. This is my BIGGEST pet peeve, I HATE when the stylist starts with another customer, leaving her first customer to sort the rest of the hair cut out with an assistant.
The assistant started drying my hair, and was very rough with the brush and she kept grabbing my hair - very unpleasant. Her friend showed up and she yelled to her from across the salon ""I'll be right there, I just have to finish drying this lady's hair."" When she was done, she commented back to the stylist that ""I was all hers"" and abruptly left with her friend.
The stylist left her customer and came back to me. At this point, I looked in the mirror and was not happy with what I saw. My hair was very flat, there was no texture, and it was much shorter than what I wanted. I commented that I wanted more texture, and she said sarcastically, and not in a funny way, ""Oh you don't want a classic bob?"" I said no thanks. She added more texture, and my hair looked ok. I wasn't happy with my bangs, so she cut them some more. The cut was ok.
I would not go back to this salon. I don't care if Yola had a bad day. You should not leave your appointment with hair down your back, with a shorter cut than what you asked for (much much shorter), and most importantly totally annoyed.
Pros: Nice atmosphere, polite receptionist
Cons: Careless staff, rude stylists, bad appointment management
