Tasty Indian Buffet! 2/28/2009

Great food at a great price! We travel to Tampa several times a year, and try to find another Indian Buffet open on a Monday night - most are closed on Monday. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the ambience. We have always had excellent service however, and it's a cozy, clean place. Can't wait to visit again next week! Pros: Variety at a great price Cons: Have to travel a long way to get there! more

Angithi Episode 9/23/2008

Visit gnatv dot com for the video review, under episodes.\r \r There's a bunch of indian restaurants in the Tampa area, but this by far our favorite. The buffet is features a whole crapload of different curried dishes, delicious naan, a wall of mirrors so you can look at yourself stuff Tandoori Chicken into your mouth.\r - Chris more

Great food, ok service. 6/15/2008

I ate here a week ago with a couple friends. I grew up in the UK with some great ethnic foods, and since moving to Tampa have been looking for somewhere authentic and delicious. After reading some less than stellar reviews of Taj, I decided to check this place out for my first Indian fare since moving to the U.S. The two friends I had with me had both been before, much to my surprise. Angithi is in a very unassuming plaza, and upon entering the restaurant, the first thing you notice is the horribly bland decor. If you're looking for ambiance, do not go here. \r we were seated quite quickly and had our orders in within about 5 minutes. Now, the server we had didn't seem particularly thrilled to be there, but he wasn't rude by any means. I had ordered the lamb korma and a garlic onion naan bread. when they bring it out, they bring a big plate of rice for the table to share. First off, there are some very good portions here, and they did not skimp on the lamb. Also one order of naan bread could have been shared between two of us very comfortably, and man was it delicious. The Korma I had was medium spiced, and it was... absolutely delicious. Just the right amount of heat, very tasteful, without being over bearing on spice. I tried a little of each of my friends' and they were good as well. Lamb is a little more expensive, but definitely worth it. I probably spent about $20-25 after tip, and was very satisfied and happy to spend it.\r \r Bottom line, if you can look past the crappy decor and don't let the unenthusiastic wait staff get to you, this is an excellent place for great indian food. Local Indian families eat here which is a good sign. I would recommend this place if all you're looking for is good food. not really date worthy. Pros: Great food, decent pricing Cons: Decor more

Worst Indian food in Tampa Bay 5/31/2008

Their food quality especially at the lunch buffet is horrible. The food has no taste. Their food used to taste very authentic Indian, but it now tastes horrible and bland. Maybe they have lost their Bengali cook who was very good. They have started adding Manchurian dishes ( a mix of chinese and Indian food) which taste neither Indian nor Chinese and have no place on an Indian buffet. The overall food quality has gone down the drain. My advice, stay away and save your money. more

Great Indian cuisine 12/5/2007

Great food and plenty of it. I eat a pretty good amount but I had to get a to-go container. I was not going to leave any of this great food there. So for less than $13 including a 20% tip, I got out of there with a full stomach and a light lunch for tomorrow. :-)\r \r The folks were very accommodating as I called and told them I would not be there until 30 minutes before they closed. They said ""come on, we will wait for you"". \r \r I waited only 10 minutes for my entree of Baingon Bharta, a roasted whole eggplant and Basmati rice dish. \r \r The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because of the modest decor. However, if someone is only looking for good food, then this is the place. \r \r They also have take-out. \r \r I hope this review helped. Pros: Food, prices, parking, service Cons: ambience more

Decent 12/21/2003

Good for takeout. They will make dishes authentically spicy, which is a plus for me. Dreary interior. There are a few Indian restaurants I prefer in Tampa (Taj, Bombay Masala), and all the Indian restaurants tend to offer the same dishes. Pros: casual, good food, as spicy as you wish Cons: bad atmosphere, typical Indian more

Review for hotel guests 5/25/2003

I needed to find an Indian restaurant for our guests and decided to try this restaurant. I must say I was greatly impressed with the quality and quantity of food but was thoroughly disappointed by the service. There was 3 tables of 2 when we arrived and for awhile we were the only table. It still took 40 mins for our dinner and we had to keep calling our server over to get service and drinks. The quality of food was excellent and portions were great. Don't go if u are in a hurry. Good food Pros: food, portions, price Cons: service, timeliness, atmosphere more
