Big Lots uses those carts that you have to insert a quarter in order to use it. I'm an avid shopper and I like going to Big Lots particularly to this branch since it's close to work. One day, I didn't have quarters with me so I wasn't able to use the cart. I had to carry 2 heavy baskets of merchandise in lieu of the shopping cart. I wanted to shop some more and I asked the cashier if they have some extra carts and she said that I need to have a quarter in order to unlock the chain that holds the cart. I tried to plead her to just let me borrow a cart and I promised to return it. She ignored me and pretended as if I didn't exist or didn't hear anything. I was trying to converse with her but I think she was having some selective deafness that day. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE ! I know she knows me by face since I shop frequently at that store. Well, I still tried to shop and carried my heavy baskets. Other customers where also complaining of not being able to use the shopping carts and are forced to carry 1-2 baskets in order to do their shopping. I think withdrawing the use of the shopping cart iif you don't have a quarter (coin) is a bad idea. It discourages the consumers of buying more things from the store.
Pros: variety of products and affordable prices
Cons: The shopping center where Big Lots is located always have beggars or other people who have creative ways of asking for donations.
