Huntington Learning Center provides a great learning environment for students. Our daughter started at Huntington immediately after her fifth grade elementary school year. We noticed she was struggling to do the work at school and became easily frustrated. She was frustrated with her schoolwork, as well as, her parents as her teachers. At the parent conferences in fourth and fifth grades, her elementary school teachers felt, “she would be fine” in middle school, but we had many concerns.
We met with the Huntington staff at the beginning of the summer prior to her entering middle school. After taking some standardized tests at Huntington, her test scores confirmed our concerns. She placed in the middle or lower for math, reading comprehension, and composition. These were all the areas we felt she was behind on, yet were not identified as a concern by the teachers at her school.
After deciding on a program, we started immediately. Being a normal eleven year old, many days she did not want to go to the leaning center. Each time, she argued with us on the way there. In contrast, each time she was picked up; she was in a great mood and enjoyed her experience there. There were never complaints after her sessions. The environment Huntington provided for my daughter fostered positive reinforcement and had a structured curriculum, both areas we struggled with as parents at home.
Her first semester in middle school, she made the honor roll. Although this does not mean that her learning issues are behind her, it does mean she is focused on school. Something she had not done very well in the past. She was very proud of her accomplishment and her attitude towards learning changed remarkably. We feel that this is her first step towards maximizing her potential. We are very pleased with the results that Huntington Learning Center has provided our daughter.
