I've always liked Uncle Wong's chinese food, but for some unknown reason my recent experience was awful. I ordered carry out on Friday, May 20th and me and my friends found the food to be terrible! What happened? We were so disappointed that I we were considering a different restaurant in the future. more

Chinese Restaurant 4/4/2007

Uncle Wong's is a neighborhood restaurant serving Chinese food for many years. The menu offers a good selection of dishes that can be enjoyed in the tastefully redecorated restaurant or phoned in for take out. The owners and staff are friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable. more

Excellent Chinese in El Cerrito! 9/9/2006

Uncle Wongs has one of the best lunch specials I've seen in a long time. For around $6 you get your choice of main dish plus either steamed rice or chicken fried rice, another choice of side dish, and a fortune cookie. The scallops with deluxe mixed vegetables is wonderful. It has sugar snap peas, carrots, and water chestnuts, and plenty of scallops! The fried shrimp is really good, too. To go orders only take about 10 minutes, and the staff is very friendly and treat you like family. I love Uncle Wong's, I'm really glad I live with in walking distance! absolutely the BEST Chinese food in the Bay Area! 3/17/2006

If you love Chinese food, you have to visit this restaurant! Their house special SPICY GARLIC SAUCE w/ CHICKEN and their DRY BRAISED STRING BEANS is absolutely the best Chinese food I've ever had. They give generous portions and for a very reasonable price. Efficient service and good atmosphere for group gatherings and romantic dinner with a love one. Definitely a FIVE STAR restaurant! Uncle wongs is what I have been looking for. 7/27/2005

I recommend there famous fried rice and Prawns and broccoli. Love it!!!!!!!!! For $5 for luch it is well worth it.This will be my favorite chinese food place.I dont think they put MSG in their food.I know that for a fact because I have a reaction it.So I give it 2 thumbs up. Very good, inexpensive food 10/12/2002

Of what I've eaten, quality of food ranges from better than average to very, very good at a reasonable price. Quick but impersonal service; businesslike but not particularly friendly. Food and overall ratings should be 7.5, really, rather than a 7 (see below). Pros: Good food, Good prices, Quick service Cons: Limited parking, Near BART, Not very friendly more
