Excellent Thai food! 6/4/2010

Delicious Thai food if you know what to order! Even the Pad Thai here is quite good, considering I try not to order that. It's not too sweet! We started with the Tom Yum Goong [spicy and sour prawns and mushroom soup with a touch of lemon grass in roasted chili aroma]. My oh my, this soup is SPICY [in a good way]! The prawns were perfect, probably thrown into the soup at the very last second so that they wouldn't be overcooked. Who likes overcooked shrimp? We ordered the Gai-Kraprao [saut?ed minced chicken in sweet basil and fresh chili garlic sauce] and the Nur-Toon [a combination of beef cubes and spices cooked in mushroom and garlic sauce served in a clay pot]. The clay pot was nicely flavored. All portions were generous, and we had enough food for lunch the next day. Pros: Great food, low prices Cons: None! more

Best thai in SF 11/21/2007

Manoras set the standard for all thai restaurants to measure themselves by.the wait staff is attentive and friendly.the meal was wonderfull i started with the larb gai and srping rolls(vegi) then i had the sea food plater which is to die for.My wife has the salad Kak.we ended the meal with Fried Banas and ice cream.i have been coming here since it opened and they have never ever failed me.I entertain alot of friends from out of town and this is an absolute place to eat.We go back time after time.I recommend to out of towners and i am sure all the SF locals who apprecite good thai cuisine knows about this place. Pros: Excellent food and prices more

Disgusting Overall 8/18/2007

I heard that this was the best Thai Restaurant in the city, but I was very disappointed. The food was mediocre, with very little spices. The curry chicken had 3 huge chunks of potato in it, as if they couldn't spend the time to cut it and just sliced the potato twice and tossed it in there. Pros: Decorations Cons: Bad food, Disgusting People more

Favorite Thai Restaurant! 8/7/2006

Excellent food at reasonable prices! The atmosphere, decor, and waitstaff outfits are also very authentic. I definitely recommend their BBQ chicken and yellow chicken curry. Yum! Pros: quick seating Cons: parking can be tough on weekend nights more

Diamond in the rough 7/11/2006

If you have never been to Manora before, you are really missing out! But beware - once you try their food, you will keep comming back for more. Their prices are very reasonable, portions are large, the staff is very friendly and accommodating and the food is AMAZING! Seating is limited, so if you are planning on bringing a large group, deffinitely make reservations in advance. When it gets busy, service can become a little slow, but the food is deffinitely worth a little bit of a wait. Pros: Tasty Food, Service Cons: Usually busy more

SOMA jewel, I can't wait to go again! 3/14/2006

This restaurant has everything I look for deilcious food (I tried several dishes and they were ALL amazing especially the seafood), the hostess was very attentive and we were seated promptly, then our waitress was helpful and never left us wanting anything. The atmosphere is that of a very expensive restaurant, but none of the pretentious vibes that go along with it. You can get any dish as spicy or mild as you like, but you'll want to save room for desert! Pros: reasonably priced, Delicious Food, Amazing Service more

Excellent and inexpensive 4/11/2005

We are always seated quickly, have great food and great service. I've been to MANY Thai restaurants in San Francisco and this is one of the top places on my list. Your food is always made to order (spicy, medium, no spice) and has excellent flavor. Pros: Inexpensive, Tasty, Quick Service Cons: Parking more

Expensive, but not very good 3/6/2005

I've eaten here a few times, but only because the people I did. I'd never pick to eat here on my own - the food is bland, and the service was abysmal. Not only that, but their prices are outlandish for a Thai restaurant. Pros: SOMA Cons: Expensive, Untasty, Bad Service more

Thai 8/13/2004

Lunch is the best. The ""pick of two"" items for $7.50 is great. You also get rice and soup. This is the best lunch value south of market and the food is spicy and great. No reservations necessary for lunch. Pros: Good service, Friendly more

Great Thai in Soma 4/9/2003

One of the best value Thai lunch specials in the city. For $7.50 ea., we got a nice thai chicken soup and 2 very tasty dishes with fried rice. If you share, 2 people can get four unique tastes and an ample amount of food. We were seated quickly, our order came propmtly and our water glass was always full. Highly recommended. Pros: Inexpensive, service, great food Cons: SOMA area more

one of the best 2/28/2003

My boyfriend and I are crazy for Thai food. We're constantly seeking out the best places and so far Manora's and Thai House (of Santa Rosa) tops the list. The service is very good. You're never waiting long for your food, even on the busiest of nights. Our faves from the menu: mint spring rolls, Tom Kha Kai (yummy coconut soup), the seafood appetizer (fresh and flavorful), the Duck Curry w/ basil, pineapple, and tomatoes (very tender and delish!), and of course, Thai Iced teas (we love the crushed ice). I just hope they don't raise prices! Pros: Fast Service, Delicious food, easy parking Cons: Not in a lively area more

disappointing thai 12/9/2002

We went here based on rave reviews from a friend, but found lifeless Americanized thai... no lemongrass, no coconut milk, no spiciness. we went with high expectations, but were truly disappointed with our food. more

Delicious! 11/19/2002

I came to Manora's by accident - we were headed to SushiGroove and they were closed for a private party. This place is incredible - some of the best Thai food I have ever had. The mint spring rolls are to die for! Totally recommend this place! more

Good Food, but nothing special 9/7/2002

Some pretty good dishes, especially the beef ones. Specializes in Southern Thai cuisine. Portions are small, but its a good place for large groups. One can find better thai food in the city. Pros: Good Parking more

Tasty and charming.. 8/16/2002

Manora's thai is a great neighborhood restaurant which has been around for years. They still serve delicious, inexpensive thai, and have a very friendly staff. I've always enjoyed myself, whenever I've gone here. Highly recommended! more

Good food - small portions 7/25/2002

Good food - inexpensive, but small portions - restaurant is kinda small, i went there with a group of 14, and we were squeezed into the corner, but it was ok. they gave me a vase for me to hold my flowers while we ate dinner. good service. more

Boring. 6/11/2002

For some reason this place is a favorite in San Francisco, but I find the food to be unremarkable, boring, and somewhat bland. Although most people seem to think that it's a great deal I don't see the bargain. The prices are more expensive than many of it's tastier counterparts. I would just as soon cruise down Folsom a few more blocks and go to Basil, which is an inspired and generally authentic Thai cuisine. more

Yummmmmy!!! 6/6/2002

I love this place!!! Its so cheap and sooo good! Thai food is my favorite food because of its spices (I always aske for x-tra hot)! If you want authentic Thai food without the front - this is the place! The atmosphere is small and intimate, very quaint!!! Oh and you have to try the fried babans with the cocanut ice cream - YUMMMMY!!! Pros: Inexpensive, Made to order, Authentic Cons: parking on weekends more
