One Word. Swindlers. 8/17/2011

Total swindlers. Had a rattling sound from my car near serpentine belt, he said sounds like water pump, but will find out and call me before he fixes it, and that I can get my car by the end of the day. I don't get any call till 2:30 PM (I gave my car at 7:00 AM). When I call him at 2:30 PM, he says it has been fixed since long. And that he had to go through lot of trouble to get genuine parts from LA. He also tries to sell me the idea that he gave discount on labor (he charged me 98$/hour...is he working on a space ship?). I thought of trying them out as a change from the Honda Servicing, and they decide to rip me off on my first visit. Never going there again. more

Best Autoshop in Santa Barbara 10/13/2010

I have been going to Jeff at airport motors since I first moved to Santa Barbara to attend UCSB in 1999. Upon the recomendation of a local friend's father I brought my car in, and Jeff has taken care of every one of my cars and my friends cars ever since. He is fair, up front and will let you know what your best options are even if it is a cheaper solution. 10 years, 5 different cars and I wouldn't recomend anyone else. more

Honest and low $ place to go 9/24/2009

This is the second repair shop I use in SB area.\r After getting repeatedly ripped off in my previous garage, I decided to go to Jeff and will continue to do so. \r First, it is as close to UCSB as you can get - few minutes by bike. \r Second, interaction with Jeff is easy and drama free. It helps if you give him a list of things you want to get done - lI think that people giving negative feedback here did not make clear t to Jeff what were their expectations/problems.\r Third, pricing is very reasonable. \r \r I recommend the shop to anyone. Make appointment, give Jeff a to-do list and be sure you get stuff well done. Pros: family owned, inexpensive, honest, close to the UCSB Cons: parking at the shop is tight more

No Longer Honest!!! 8/28/2009

These guys have worked on my cars a few times, and boy did they mess up! They act very arrogant and talk down to you about your own car, even when we've had it for 20 years and have done most of the work ourselves! On both cars, they came out running way worse than when we took them in! Then they give you the run-around and tell you that it's your fault! After taking it back to get them to fix the problems they created, it was followed only by more incompetence. \r They even yelled at me by saying that I had caused all of these problems, although I had just driven away from their garage!\r I hear that these guys used to be good, but that was years ago. I later spoke with some others who have had similar recent experiences, and they will not return, either. \r The only reason I wanted to put this review here was to warn other innocent people before they also become victims...\r \r Update at of Dec 2010:\r \r Surprises from work done here keeps showing up- I had more engine work done at my honest mechanic, work that had supposedly been done here at Airport Motors before. What we've found, over and over again, is that Airport Motors charged us for replacing parts that they never actually replaced! Instead, they found a short cut way of patching up the problem, left the worn out parts inside, and charged me for the parts and labor. Sure, he might talk nice, but this guy is not to be trusted. Cons: Incompetent, Rip Off! more

umm not good 5/5/2009

Ya they are cheap because they neglect to tell you whats wrong with your car and do band aid repairs. Ya sounds good for a while until lack of knowing whats wrong with the vehicle because of good check out reports leads to major costs of replacement parts. Go here if you want to be in denial about maintenance. Pros: cheap Cons: everything else more

Best Mechanic in SB! 1/30/2006

I've had many different mechanics in Santa Barbara and I've finally found one that treats me right. I used to have a pretty old american car with more problems than miles. They were always honest with me though and never tried to con me. They always managed to get me limping back on the road for a couple hundered bucks. I also took advantage of their cheap tow service many times and Jeff (the owner) has given me many a rides to work. Now that I have a nice new car they are still the only ones that I trust. None of this 40k mile checkup that costs $500, he simply checks it over every time i get an oil change. Even now that I live hundreds of miles away I prefer to see him for all my maintenance needs when I visit friends and family. Pros: Honest, Inexpensive, Honest more
