I visited Dr. Wheeler office because of an urgent bleeding problem, Dr. Wheeler told me "I'm out of town next week, when i come back we'll perform a procedure to find out what wrong with you". When i left the office, i wasn't booked for any appointment, so i tried to call back 1 week later to make an appointment, after many times only receiving the response from the message system, i has chance to talk with a human, she said "I need to find out what kind of procedure doctor want to perform before booking an appointment for you, I will call you back", I waited for 2 more weeks but nobody called so I called and she said the same thing "I need to find out what kind of procedure doctor want to perform before booking the appointment for you, i will call you back", I told her "Last time you said the same thing and you didn’t call…" Then I waited for 3 more weeks but nobody called and my problem has gone at this point, so i didn't really care anymore. But then finally somebody called (about 2 months after the first visit), i told her "my problem is gone, i may not have to see doctor anymore", she said "Doctor still need to find out what happened to you, you should have do the procedure." She booked me an appointment 2 weeks later and also prescribed medicines at CVS drug store. At the day of my appointment, i took time off from work, have Cytotec medicine the night before the procedure and pain relief medicine one hour before the procedure as the instruction. When i got to Doctor Wheeler office, somebody said "Doctor is not here today, it must be a miscommunication when the appointment was made." more

Aloof and made a serious misdiagnoses 9/30/2010

I have been a patient of Dr. Wheeler’s since 2001. He was my OBGYN for my first two children. I had problem free pregnancies and deliveries so I was content with him as a doctor. However, when I became pregnant the third time and was experiencing heavy bleeding and clotting, it took over a month for me to be properly diagnosed with an etopic pregnancy. I had several ultrasounds and blood tests and was told at first that it looked like I had a miscarriage and the bleeding should stop in a week. When the bleeding didn’t stop I returned and did more test to be told by the PA that I was indeed pregnant. I found it almost impossible given weeks of cramping, bleeding and clotting, but I once again became excited. Then the office called back the next day and said to come in as my levels weren’t where they were supposed to be. I went in, had another ultrasound and they finally found the etopic pregnancy. Once again my heart was broken. After being on an emotional rollercoaster that could have been prevented had they read the test completely first, I was scheduled for surgery. At this point, I had been having complications for over 1 month. Dr. Wheeler only wanted to perform the surgery in a specific surgical center so I was scheduled for the next day. By 2pm that day, my cramping had become so bad I could not walk. I contacted the office and asked if this was normal and they said they could call in some Vicadin. I declined and by 7pm that evening, I could hardly breathe, and paged the doctor. He calmly said if I was in pain I could go to the ER or wait for surgery until tomorrow- it was up to me. At this point, my fallopian tube had ruptured and my abdomen was filled with over 1 quart of blood. My husband took me to Hoag and after a very swift exam; I was prepped and ready for surgery in less than 20min. I then waited for over an hour for Dr. Wheeler to arrive. I feel he made a terrible mistake sending me home that nearly cost me my life and then did not seem to be concerned once I was hospitalized. He did not call or r more
