it was alright.. maybe greek food isnt for me 9/11/2008

i went to the mad greek, after the hype of it being on diners/drive ins and dives. i had 3 dogs in the car and myself. we were returning from vegas and decided to give the restaurant a try. i ordered their ""world famous gyros"" and order of calamari and a plain burger (for the dogs to share). i dunno if it was me or the gyros but it was good maybe i ate it too fast, its like mcdonalds for me if i eat a burger there i dont want one for another 6 months, and i love mcdonalds. it was like that for the gyros. the calamari, i dunno if its a greek thing but im not big on the ""heads"" of the calamari and eat mainly the tube or body. but there were TONS of ""heads"" the taste wasnt bad but i would probably not get it again. the hamburger for the dogs they gave a cheese burger that looked dry the fries looked good but we took it to go and drove to victorville to eat lunch becos it was like 95 degrees and victorville was 87 we parked in a shady mall and ate lunch, i doubt that had anything to do with the burger.i ordered a cappachino nothing special. i probably will return due to the fact that it is prob a little less than half way to vegas and a good place to stop and stretch your legs. the gryo was alright too, the cucumber sauce was good.. i did bring home greek custard turnover for my grandma and mother so we will see how that goes... Pros: in the middle of nowhere..... Cons: i dunno will have to try it again one more time to really know more

good stop on vegas road trip 11/16/2006

Stopped here on the way back from our last trip from Vegas. We should have gone through the drive thru but we went inside and it took at least 45 minutes to get our food, enough time for my friend to go get gas and come back and we were still waiting. I should have gotten my own sandwich, though, I kept trying to steal bites, it was pretty yummy. more

Windex won't fix this meal... 12/28/2005

Something's changed here... Last night I spent $8.45 for a dried out leather shoe pita with some ( I think) lamb inside that was almost to the point of being jerky. Just horrible. No onions, no olives, no side salad. Just a pita with limp lettuce and dried out meat. I could not belive I spent almost 9 bucks for this. Terrible...don't buy in to the hype. Cons: slow service, bad quality of food, $$$ for nothing more

I won't eat anywhere else in Baker! 1/31/2004

I've had Greek food in L.A., and nothing here compares to the Mad Greek. The lamb is delicious. The salad is abundant and fresh. I love the fried zucchini and the fried mushrooms. I brought some baklava home to my family, and they were happy. If you're between So-Cal and Vegas and are thinking of eating at Barstow, try this place instead. Pros: Best Greek I've had more

Could've Been Better 6/16/2002

I know it's tempting when you're in the middle of nowhere to be lured in by the promise of great Greek food in the middle of the desert. Honestly, what other options do you have--a multitude of nameless, faceless coffee shops? Well, honestly you're much better off at one of those greasy spoons than you are here. Maybe if you've never tasted good Greek food, than this place would really seem like the oasis it markets itself as. Maybe the burgers are better (yes, they have American food, too). But doesn't that take all the fun out of it? They do try to keep things interesting by featuring various contests throughout the year. The winner usually gets a free trip to Greece. Pros: unique for location, contests inside Cons: greek food only ok more
