COCKROACHS in the BREAD BASKET!!! 11/12/2006

Horrible experience! Cockroache infestd. We gave this place three chances, each time there were huge (3-5 inch) cockroachs. They lie to you and say ther come from upstairs but one even crawled out of the BREAD BASKET!!! The manager couldn't have cared less!!! It was ABSOLUTELY horrible! best fries anywhere 7/5/2006

the fries are thin but its all about the oil they use...you just have to try them with a their grilled chix sandwich. i swore off on chix sandwiches for years..theyre always soggy and bland, but jaxx's is delicious. i go in there for lunch takeouts so i havent checked out their nite scene yet. great food and friendly staff. I went there with my girl last sat. night and i was a little disappointed. I had ordered a $23 filet and it was overcooked. However it was kind of a cool place with a nice atmosphere, but i reccomend go there if you feel like dropping 60+ on drinks( and not get a buzz) Pros: nice enviornment, good jazz music Cons: overcooked food, expensive drafts more

Good Food; beware of Jam 8/6/2002

Have been here twice. The atmosphere is nice and homey and the food is good. I do, however, suggest if you are ever considering attending the Sunday jam session, you pass and find another place. It is ultra-clickish and full of student players who have some serious attitude problems. Maybe their parents didn't give them enough attention, but whatever the case, it is not conducive for anyone outside of their inner circle to enjoy sitting in on a song or two. 40's atmosphere......... 6/29/2002

This is a great place to come during a week night to relax, enjoy good food & drinks, and listen to music. I've been here several times, though not recently, and as suggested by a friend we came early. Thank goodness for that because week night or weekend this place gets crowded. We were able to enjoy our food before the music started and then stayed to enjoy our drinks and the music. I like the corn chowder that they make and although I haven't tried the steaks, I've been told they're good. more

Great jazz and good food! 6/20/2002

Jax is a very nice place for dinner and jazz. The talent rarely disappoints - usually straight ahead jazz, but also r&b. The food is good too - not the best, but right up there with top restaurants in Glendale. The bartenders definitely standout at this place. They simply make great drinks! more

Dinner and Jazz 6/16/2002

Admittedly, I haven't been there in awhile but I used to really enjoy this place. It was great when Preston Smith had a weekly gig here, though the more traditional jazz music is nice as well. Don't expect the kind of earth-shattering stuff that inspired Kerouac and you won't be disppointed. The food is good for typical American fare. Again, it's not going to rock your world anymore than the music will, but it's not bad either. Mostly this is just a place to relax. The atmosphere is pleasantly classy, but not at all pretentious. Get here early or it can be too crowded to enjoy. Hopefully, they will have gotten a new bartender by now. As a friend of mine put it, the old one had the personality of a dish towel. Cool but crowded 6/13/2002

When my wife and I first discovered Jax we loved it. A cool, unpretenious, untrendy place to have a drink and listen to some live jazz. It's a great atmosphere, but unfortunately it's appeal has exceeded its space and we've had to walk right back out the last few times due to a lack of seats. We're just hoping some day everyone else will get bored and move on and it will return the relaxing hang out it was when we came across it. Bar=GREAT, Restaurant=BAD 5/19/2002

Busy place, rarely a seat available so come early. Happy hours are great, and the Jazz music is pretty good. A definate pick-up bar, and really good drinks. Now for the down side of Jax: The leach of a restaurant that is attached to the back of the place. They call it Italian, I call it sick. Over cooked pasta, runny sauce, poor service with major attitude. Keep to the better side of Jax bar and skip the grill. When I Was Living In The Glendale Area, A Cousin Of Mine Want To Check Out Jax Bar & Gill, We Had A Few Drinks & A Late Dinner. Food & Drinks Were Very Good, At Fair Prices.
