Hamlet has won me over, again 2/10/2008

I recently visited the Hamlet Restaurant on Sepulveda Blvd. in West L.A. I had not been there in years, and was going more for nastalgia than anything else. Wow was I impressed! From the moment I entered the door I was made to feel welcome. The food was great, our Waiter was great. I have become a loyal customer. Pros: Parking, Service, Food Cons: Hard to see at first, headed south on Sepulveda more

Horrible service INSANE manager 9/13/2007

The worst service and the manager threatened me when I complained!YES he actually followed me out of the restaurant and called me names that can be construed as a hate crime....... Pros: decent food Cons: Horrible service and incredibley rude manager!!!! more

HORRIBLE SERVICE...charged us for someone else's meal 7/2/2007

a coworker and i decided to give Hamburger Hamlet a try for lunch, I havent been there for years and despite their legal troubles at this branch we gave it a go...the service was terrible...it took about 20 minutes for our waitress to get our order, then 30 to get our food, 15 minutes every time we asked for a drink refill and 30 to get our check which we asked for 2 times (shouldnt they WANT to get paid?!) the check and credit card sat at our table for 15 more minutes and after our waitress went to the next table to get their check (there were 2 couples including us in her section) and we got up to pay at the front. they ended up charging us for someone else's meal, $65 instead of our $31 bill and when I told them they came back to tell me the waitress said that's what we ordered. there were two of us and we had ordered a sandwich and salad and two drinks. the bill said 4 guests and nothing listed was what we ordered despite the fact we had given them our correct bill. we finally paid and im not one to skip out on tips so i did tip our waitress, but the manager giving me 'his apologies' wont prevent me from avoiding this place in the future. Pros: food isnt horrible Cons: bad service, bad customer relations, not worth the trouble more

Average From Start To Finish 5/21/2007

My family tried brunch at this location yesterday: 8 adults and 3 kids. Waitstaff was not equipped for a party our size; food arrived at different times and several items were forgotten until we reminded them. The food itself was decent. I had the country breakfast but others chose skillet breakfasts, chili, and salad. I think they're well-intentioned but execution wasn't quite what it should have been. Pros: Good cornbread, Nice Ambience Cons: Unsafe Parking Lot, Uneven Service more

Steak fries and three ambiences to choose from 4/3/2006

What I like about the Hamlet is even if I don't know what I want I can usually find something on their menu that satisfies. My wife swears by the jambalaya with it's savory sausage and shrimp; I'm usually happy with a burger or one of their sandwhiches, but I never order without checking their specials. Have them toast your hamburger bun or it may come cold. The steak fries are yummy; ask for them well-done for that golden brown crunchiness. We sit on the left where the cielings are higher and the ambience is nicer. Straight back you have another option that's good for groups, with big comfy chairs and booths. The front main section only makes sense if you're in a hurry. We had a stereo stolen from my wife's car in the rear parking lot one afternoon, so I would recommend parking in front on the street. Pros: steak fries, casual but nice, good menu Cons: unsecure rear lot, service can be slow, cold buns more

something is wrong 12/16/2005

I remember Hamburger Hamlet being very special but something has changed. It feels and tates like any chain with preportioned and mostly deep fried. Whatever happened to the great hamburgers of yesteryears? more

Great steak fries and juicy chicken... 12/13/2005

The best steak fries ever at the Hamlet. The BBQ Island chicken was very good too..Hamburgers are ok, sure better than at all those crappy fast food places around the corner.. Pros: steak fries, tartar sauce more

When you don't know where to go 2/24/2003

Hamlet is our favorite place to go when we're short on ideas and everybody's hungry...Everyone leaves satisfied. Make sure to order the Long Island Iced Tea with Bourbon or they'll make it with Scotch! (It's excellent with Bourbon.) It's also a nice place to see the game. I just wish they'd fix those ceiling tiles in the back where there must have been a water leak; the rest of the place is nice. Also...the bathroom in the main dining room is classy...but the bathroom on the bar side is dark and a bit icky. Pros: Great Waiter/esses, Great specials Cons: Bad Ceiling Tiles more

Great burgers! 1/8/2003

I have dined at this location on many occassions and can recommend it. The Hamlet's manu is pretty diverse so not everything will be great, but the things they do well are outstanding. Here are my favs: French Onion Burger, Chicken Fahitas, Pot stickers (surprisingly good here), Apple Crisp, and the Hamlet Ale. I prefer the diningroom on the right side of the restaurant. If you are a sports fan, the right side is a great place to watch sports (especially basketball games). Pros: Many good dishes, Casual atmosphere, Parking in back Cons: Can be crowded, Noise more
