Editorial review from Citysearch 10/11/2012

As someone who doesn't like to wear dramatic or obvious makeup, I have avoided this brand for years. It seemed like all of my friends who raved about it were performers or makeup fanatics who loved their crazy eyeshadows and extremely pigmented bases. Add that to the fact that every department store counter is buzzing with people, half of whom are still waiting to be helped, and it just never seemed like the right time to try it.\r \r Well, last week, I was walking by the this location after watching a movie and peeped inside. It didn't seem too busy, and I was desperate for a new eyeshadow primer, so I stepped inside. The store was squeaky clean and a sales associate quickly asked if I was looking for anything. I described the type of primer I was looking for and she found it's equivalent right away. Then, I tentatively asked about bronzer, afraid that I'd end up with streaks of brown across my face (and let me tell you, this happens every time someone tries to apply makeup on me. I'm super-pale and other sales associates don't seem to take that into account before caking me with orange dust). The associate helping me actually chose the perfect, natural, light shade on the first try. I was impressed. She asked if I was looking for anything else and I declined, and was again shocked when he didn't start pushing more things on me. Overall, pleasant, stress-free experience and the sales associates actually know what they're doing. Will definitely be back. more

Great, friendly staff, Huge selection! 1/4/2009

I went to this store yesterday. As soon as I walked in, a guy said someone would be right with me, and everyone was all smiles. I got this guy to help me. I was looking for an empty palette and some basic eyeshadows to start with. He was extremely helpful, told me to look at the shadows and set them aside, and he'd come back and get them. He didn't hover or try to sell me stuff, he just gave me some neutrals and said what they were good for, and that the more colorful shadows were a matter of preference. He answered all my questions and I was talking to him like I would an old friend. It was great, I would recommend the store to anyone. He showed me the new collection which wasn't even on display yet. Extremely nice man. Pros: Extremely nice staff, huge variety, PRO items more

Great products/bad customer service 9/12/2008

This is the first review I've ever given. I don't like to make a fuss but, this time I had to speak up. I've been an actress in Los Angeles for many years. I've learned how to apply my own make-up by watching the professional artists on the various shows I've been on. I'm giving the Mac store an average rating because of the poor and unprofessional service. I love the products and the overwhelming number of choices. I feel like a kid in a candy store when I enter Mac but, that kid-like feeling is soon given a ""time-out"" the minute I try to get some help with the plethora of products they have. Many of the people who work there come off very arrogant and make it pretty obvious that they'd rather be somewhere else. It seems they just work at the store in between gigs. They're very short on patience, charm and care. So just be prepared. When I was first starting out as an actress I got some of the worse make-up tips from one of these dismissive artists; he could have really cared-less what I looked like at my auditions. If you want beneficial help with color combinations and application advice then I highly recommend you take a trust-worthy make-up artist with you or an honest friend who will give you constructive feedback. By all means, enjoy their products and don't be thrown by the bad attitudes. Pros: Cool ambience. Very hip. Lots of variety Cons: Parking is tough on Robertson more

FREE?? 4/11/2007

Not really free especially when you are they required to spend 50.00 for bad service and attitude. Why Bother! more

So much to choose from! 10/21/2005

If at all possible, go straight to the MAC stores, skip the counter at the dept. stores. This is especially true because those girls are WAY too busy in a tiny space to really be helpful. Now, if you're just getting a refill, fine. If you want real help with colors or skin types, the folks at the MAC stores are top notch! Pros: Professional Help, Loads of variety, You can try it all! Cons: Too many choices, Not at the mall, Can get busy more
