Baltic Crossroads is a rare visit to the artisans of Latvia. Enter the delicate world of handmade vases, mugs, jewelry, paintings and photographs. Everytime I go to BC I find something I want to buy. It's the perfect special occasion or no occasion shop. Usually, there's Latvian folk music playing. You'll meet Vladis or his brother a bookbinder who can tell you the names, regions and history of each item in the shop. There are old wooden crosses, and crosses of iron hanging on the walls. You might think you're in the 14th century. Amber abounds, set in sterling silver--each piece an original. Clogs, candles, purses, music, and sometimes, a little wine and cheese just for you.
