TERRIBLE BUSINESS AVIOD AT ALL COSTS 3/27/2009

This place deserves negative 5 stars. Horrible horrible horrible. Taking my seersucker suit here to be altered and cleaned was probably the biggest tailoring mistake EVER! DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS!!! I needed my jacket arms lengthened and the pants taken out. For this they charged me $43. WHAT A SCAM! When I complained they said it was because the sleeves needed extra fabric. When i looked at the tailoring i was horrified to see they had totally botched the cuffs, inserting a terrible muslin when this was entirely unnecessary (its a seersucker suit, it doesn't need this kind of internal architecture!) The pants too looked like they had been sewn in a hurry. just poor tailoring all around. They wouldn't budge on the price because they knew i needed the suit for a wedding the next day! Basically the service is rude, the work is shoddy, and the prices are horribly excessive. GO SOMEPLACE ELSE!!!!! Pros: NOTHING POSITIVE TO SAY Cons: Terrible service, shoddy work, extremely expensive more

Avoid 10/28/2007

Have gone there for years because they have parking and they're non-toxic, but the service is lousy. They're okay with cleaning basic cotton, but anything sophisticated (down, cashmere, silks), or some serious stains, forget about it, go somewhere else. I brought a fancy shirt in that they left an iron mark on and it came back with even more heat marks on it. They don't know what they're doing...so incompetent and belligerent. They cleaners down the street, next to Trader Joes, are miles better. Pros: non-toxic, local, parking, average price Cons: belligerent, rude, unfriendly, incompetent employees more

Charged $150 for doing absolutely nothing 8/18/2007

My husband and I had a terrible, frustrating, and expensive, experience with Vamco. We took a rug in to be deodorized - it was clean, but a vacuum cleaner motor had burned out on it, so it had taken on a burned smell that we wanted to get rid of. The person at the counter explained how the problem would be taken care of - they would first clean the rug, then deodorize it, and if any odor remained, it would go in the ""ozone room"" which would remove any remaining odor. It would take 2 weeks. The employee couldn't tell me how much the service would cost - the manager would call me later. I was a bit suspicious of this, but the rug having already been unloaded, I decided to leave it. Later, the manager called, & said the process would cost $170. I don't usually haggle, but this seemed extreme - I asked for a discount - he brought the price down to $150. The rug was already there, so I opted for convenience and decided to go ahead. Three weeks later, I went to pick up the rug. They put it in my car - and the car started to smell like broken vacuum cleaner motor. I had them take the rug out of the car. They looked at the order, and said that it had only been cleaned - that the instructions had never included deodorizing. I said that it certainly did - what else was I paying $150 for, when the rug was clean to begin with? That's when they said that the instructions were only to clean the rug, and the cost was $160. Again the manager had to call, this time my husband talked to him. He said the rug had been deodorized (which I cound't believe), but it hadn't gone in the ozone room. That would take 2 more weeks. 2 weeks later, we tried to pick up the rug, but nobody was there to get it out of hte ozone room. A few days later, we managed to retrieve our rug ... and it smelled exactly the same. With the company's ""no guarantee"" policy, we had no choice to pay up, take our rug and go. I wouldn't recommend this cleaner to my worst enemy. Cons: Incompetent, Expensive, Bad management more

Angry Manager / Owner, Poor Customer Service, Inconsistent Quality of Service 2/27/2007

Despite liking the idea of Vamco (local, green), I've taken my business away, and recommend anyone interested in quality service and good customer care run as the other way. My dry cleaning the past 3 years here has been OK, not great (Don't take your great pieces here). Items come back clean, but jeans get pressed unless you ask, shirts get overly starched, and irons leave heat marks.\r \r The final nail though is customer service. We've gone to Vamco 3 times for alterations, mainly hemming pants. Each time the pants come back with problems (uneven hems, pants that haven't even been touched, hems that are still way too long). The first 2 rounds I took the pants back, and they fixed them with some resistance -- there was always a few minutes of convincing that these weren't done right and this general sense of We-don't-belive-you even though there's a computer system that tracks all sales. On the 3rd round, I was just plain tired of this drill, and waited to take them in, as well as the fact that I work an hour from home, so it's next to impossible for me to get into Vamco before or after work. So, I took my 3rd round of errors in 2 weeks ago, and the manager/owner went from 0-60 in 2 seconds accusing me of lying (he didn't believe I'd paid for these untouched pants, even though they were in the computer!), and claming I'd taken too long to bring them (even though it was my 3rd time of shoddy work, and I'd explained to him the difficulty getting in there due to my commute). Long story short, the guy raised his voice, acted belligerent, and showed zero signs of wanting to keep me as a customer. The staff looked embarassed.\r \r We went back today to pick up the pants, as well as $60 in dry cleaning. Mr. Friendly was there again, and tried to charge us for them. We rehashed everything. He was yelling. The whole thing was crazy. The staff is obviously abused by this yahoo. He even had the audacity to say we'd only spent $400 in there in the past year! Pros: Friendly Staff, Parking Cons: Owner/Manager is abusive; Customer service is poor; Alterations are INCONSISTENT more

lost my clothes and my boyfriend's 1/18/2006

My boyfriend and I went on different occaisions and both of us were told that they had lost one or more articles of our clothing. They found my boyfriend's clothes but I have been waiting for months and they still haven't found mine. Very dissappointing. Pros: Green Cleaners Cons: Lost my clothes, Untimely turnaround, parking more
