Worth a try 6/29/2010

Service was a bit shady/pretentious but i used to be a server and always tried to be friendly so maybe its just my thing. I'm also not french :) Food was very good. Ratatouille was so fresh and a greatly proportioned Tuna Tartare which is always a fav of mine. Def worth a visit. Pros: food Cons: service more

amazing 5/12/2010

o.k so my single friends and husband booked a Sunday Mother's Day at Bagatelle and of course I freaked out as we have a five year old and an 18 month old. I was prepared to walk in with the kids and then run out..I was soooo pleasantly surprised on how accommodating they were, and there were quite a few families that day. They made room for our stroller and were soo nice about it. My 18 month old can literally drive any person out of a restaurant but the staff was super nice and actually even played with him so I can have a bite... a week later we went for dinner and again we had a great experience. Only thing is their appetizers out beat entree menu, so entrees need a little bit of tweaking..... Pros: great food, great ambiance and great service Cons: appetizers out beat entree menu more

best in meatpack 10/18/2009

almost everything is so tasty. but the tuna tartar is THE best in town by far. nicko the chef is very good, often comes out and check on the tables. beside all the staff are exceptionally fun, happy and friendly all the time, the front door and mertie die ALI is a great/great guy. of course aymeric "the BIG guy" the owner!! his the man behind the brunch fun idea in new york city. pump up the volume, fun music (dj jacque dumas), dance on the table, champagnes every where, the place is fab, etc etc. oh not forget remiiiii his a partner. cool shorty fun personality... family with small kids?, not recommended. enjoy. as much as i always do. Pros: best tuna tartar Cons: best music in restaurant more

Love, Love, Love! 6/18/2009

I love this place! This southern French cuisine oriented, located in the heart of MPD, has got to be the best place to be at right now in NYC. The music is very European and fun, the dishes are exquisite and the service is very friendly. Pros: great ambiance, food and service more

Great Food and Friendly Service 6/4/2009

I enjoyed a wonderful meal at Bagatelle last week. The menu is what you would expect from a classic French bistrot, and everything I ordered was done perfectly. From the terrine de foie gras (decadent) to the roasted salmon with asparagus and lemon sauce (light and refreshing), the whole experience was a treat. You couldn't have a more beautiful room, so clean and elegant with white linen and crystal chandeliers. The staff (and yes, they're all beautiful people) are also incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. I know brunch is a big thing there, but I would highly recommend stopping by for dinner! more

We have been to Bagatelle a few times and it just keeps on getting better. The scene, the food ,and the staff are truly all great. It can be a little expensive but thats only becuase you want to stay and drink there for hours. If you want to go for a party? Go for brunch on Saturday's everyone there is having so much fun I honestly feel bad for people who don?t know about it. Try the French toast for brunch its delicious. more

Authentic French cuisine in the Meatpacking District

Owner Message
  • Bringing a taste of the South of France to the Meatpacking District, Bagatelle mixes simplicity with sophistication in the form of a neighborhood bistro where comfort is key. Hailing from France, co-owners Remi Laba and Aymeric Clemente have created a restaurant that is wholly European in atmosphere and cuisine. Executive Chef Nicolas Cantrel serves a menu that evokes a Provencal brasserie with some unexpected touches.

Upon entering Bagatelle, diners will feel they have been transported to the South of France, where patrons sit for hours over a plat du jour and a carafe of wine while enjoying the comfort and ease of their surroundings. As soon as the menus are delivered to the table, Cantrel's passion is immediately evident as guests discover a variety of dishes that have a unique spin on French classics. Bagatelle also offers al fresco dining on their outdoor patio.

Editorial
  • Nicolas Cantrel, the Ducasse-trained chef formerly of Bobo, takes dead aim at the ‘60s-smitten Francophile set with Bagatelle, a tiny Meatpacking District eatery that looks lifted straight from a Jean-Luc Godard set. Frosted with swathes of Rococo wooden molding and dangling chandeliers, the restaurant is French right down to its owners, all the best for luring away some of the crowd from nearby Pastis. Snuggle into a half-moon booth under the aegis of a gigantic Marilyn print and tuck into anything from the super-Gallic menu--steak au poivre, tuna tartare or ratatouille--while debating the best moment from “Breathless.”
