I have very curly, thick, and hard to manage hair. I have been to some of the supposedly best salons in Houston and always came out with awful hair cuts and dye jobs, thinking I paid way to much money. I could tell you horror stories about what some salons have done to my hair from turning my hair clown orange color to completely frying my hair. One day I took a gamble on Highland Salon in Katy and that’s when I met Mindy and have been hooked every since. Mindy really understands my hair problems and cuts my thick hair so it fills a lot thinner and manageable. She also colors my hair to cover my gray and she only uses the very best products for my hair type. I never feel uncomfortable asking her for advice about my hair and have learned so much on how to keep my hair looking great. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! more

I have been going to Kristine for the past year and I absolutely LOVE her! Not only is she such a sweetheart, but she is a fantastic stylist. I started getting highlites from Kristine and I love them! I have a lot of hair so to get the desired natural highlite look takes alot of time. She is very patient and always makes me feel comfortable. She is always cheerful and has amazing hair styling skills! I recently followed Kristine to this new salon. I love this place. It is very comfortable and everyone has a smile on their face. It is so beautiful. It really feels like a spa and I love the ambiance. Pros: Stylist expertise & Customer Service more

This is a large well equipped salon with many stylists and services. Each stylist is responsible for their own clientele and services. The salon is nice, well decorated and comfortable. While the salon provides a clean, modern comfortable atmosphere for the services they provide, it is up to you to find a stylist there who you are comfortable with and provides the results you desire. The best way to do this is by word of mouth. If you call without knowing who you want, they will most certainly recommend a stylist for you who is available. You may or may not be happy with your results, depending on what you desire and your ability to communicate this to the person doing your hair. Sometimes a quick availability means the stylist isn't in high demand for whatever reason. The stylist I use now is in very high demand and it is very difficult to get an appt with unless I book the next appt as I am leaving the current one. Previously when I first started going to Highland Salon, I was given to a stylist which I just never could get to produce the results I wanted. I should not have stayed with her for 2 years, but I did. She didn't ruin my hair, it just wasn't what I wanted. I changed to my current stylist and could not be happier. The salon is large enough and has enough stylists to choose from that I never even have to worry about running into my old stylist, which is nice. As with anyone who does your hair, you have to pick and choose. But at least at Highland Salon you have many all in one place to choose from. Other spa services are also available here in one place if desired. I was sooo nervous about getting my highlights done because I've went to so many hair salons that just can't get it right. But, this salon is a keeper. I had Tammy and she was wonderful. She listens to what you want and gets it right. She takes her time doing your hair and gets it looking great. I highly recommend her for highlights and a cut. BTW...the rates are affordable and they won't let you leave their salon looking mediocre...all the customer's hair there looked above average. more

I have been searching for a place to get a good haircut, and I've never really been pleased with what I found. I never expected Highland Salon and Spa to give me great service, but I had no idea I was in for a very pleasant surprise. Tammy, who cut my hair, was a very wonderful person, and she did a fantastic job! I definitely recommend her, and Highland Salon and Spa. Pros: Friendly service and a great atmosphere. i will never go to this salon again. i was greeted with katrina saying, "are you waiting for katrina?" when i answered yes she said, "i'm katrina." never asked me my name at all. while i was telling her what i wanted done, she rifled through her purse and cabinet looking for gum. katrina had to redo my all over color THREE times while i was there...and i still walked out with orange hair instead of blonde. before i left she told me what we were going to do to my hair next time i came in - i looked at her like she was crazy! i will not be back. she never even apologized for me having to be in her chair for 4 hours while she had to ask fhe beauticians around her for help in consulting color charts, etc. more

I was referred to this salon and love it. I have been back several time, each being a good experience. The stylist I use for highlights and hair cuts is Kristen and I have been extremely sastified. Highly recommend this salon and Kristen for good service & prices. Pros: Easy access, Service is good Cons: No cons more

I'm new to area & I've had the same hair dresser for about 10yrs, but since we moved I was completely scarred to even try any place out. I looked online but had trouble finding positive or any reviews on places that where close by to my home. Anyways, I had highlights done by a hair stylist named Katrina D. & I left completely satisfied. She did a great job & the price was so reasonable. The staff was so friendly & where not pushy at all when it came to the products they sell there. I highly recommend this salon & Katrina to anyone who is looking for to get great highlights in a great atmosphere with great customer service. I will definetly go back for all my hair care needs!
