Can't Stay Away 9/16/2011

I first went to Howard several years ago when training for my first marathon - he was a genius. After moving down the street from the relaxing cottage, I decided to take my boyfriend there for a couples massage. Well a year or two later, it was still wonderful. I can't believe I stayed away as long as I did. Howard makes you feel very comfortable, and really does a great job. My boyfriend had Lilly and was very happy with her. We are now trying to go every month. If you haven't tried Village Massage . . . call now . . .like right now! You won't be sorry. more

Experience the best Professional massage! 4/24/2011

Village massage is the best Professional massage I have ever had out of all the places I have ever experience. The place is set in a very nice house that has been transformed into a very comfortable atmosphere. The rooms are so clean and quiet and relaxing. Lilly my massage therapist was very careful to listen to my aches and pains to understand what needed to be worked on my body. This therapist knows how to use her hands very professionally and proficiently to work every muscle and knot and really knows how to feel each spot that has a problem. I highly recommend her as she knows how to use her hands very well to find and work out those muscles. I really love this place and like this massage therapist! more

THEY TRULY SET THE BAR! 3/25/2010

I wanted to surprise my boyfriend with a couples massage on his birthday....After calling many Spa's I came across Village Massage and received a call from Howard. He was very nice and since it was our first time getting massages (Professionally) he was very informative as well. When the day came for the massage I was so excited ... from the moment you look at the cottage you can just tell how intimate they have made it.. you walk in and the ladies that were going to massage us ( I can not remember their names at the moment) sat down and talked to us and made us feel so welcome.. The whole aura of the place is wonderful... when the massage started the only thing i regret is not making my appointment longer because the massages were AMAZING!!! We will definitely return! Howard has got to be the best massage therapist in Houston! From the soothing environment to Howard's calming demeanor, the moment you enter the cottage, it is like being wrapped in a blanket of peace. Howard takes the time to assess specific problem areas when you arrive and answers all questions. He employs a whole cadre of therapeutic touch techniques during his integrative massage which seemingly take you away to a magical, mystical place - and yet, you have never left Houston. A great find 3/18/2010

I just looked online for the nearest massage place that could get me in right away and now I'll never go anywhere else. The house-turned-salon is so comfortable and welcoming. I got a deep tissue massage by Howard and he had a way to make it relaxing instead of just painful. And then the warm bed, hot stones, wet warm towels, and aromatherapy made it perfect! I highly recommend Village Massage. Howard DeCastro is an amazingly skilled masseuse who gives a very relaxing and recuperative massage. I chose Howard based on the reviews about him on citiysearch. He lived up to every fantastic review and more. He is a seasoned and knowledgeable massage therapist and provides a plethora of services at his charming and peaceful location in River Oaks. I love the aromatherapy, hot stones, heated table and hot towels. And stretches! Howard's demeanor is calm, cordial and professional. I really appreciate that upon every visit he takes the time to understand why I am there are what my specific needs are that day and overall. Howard is respectful and considerate as well. It is obvious that giving a wonderful massage is his passion! I don't think I will ever need another massage therapist unless I'm out of town. Great job Howard, thanks soooo much! wonderful prenatal massage 11/25/2009

I am 6 months pregnant and have had muscle aches and tension throughout my body. My OB-GYN recommended massage therapy, so I got online and found Village Massage through Citysearch. Their website lists several discounts that you can use, including a first-time client discount, so be sure to request it! My appointment was with Howard... he asked lots of questions and really customized my massage to my preferences and needs. I have experienced some sciatic nerve issues, and he taught me some stretches to help alleviate the pain. His top priority was my comfort and satisfaction, and the massage was perfect... certainly the best I've ever received. I will definitely be returning! Worth every penny... 11/23/2009

Christina was my massage therapist. She was terrific. She listened to what I wanted out of the hour. I've had dozens of massages in the past. I was a bit hesitatnt to visit a "non-commercial" entity. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised. I thought Village Massage was great. Very professional staff, through and through... Pros: Attentive listeners to my particular needs more

This is the Rolls Royce of massages. My husband has been working late deadlines 7 days a week. He said following his appointment with Howard and his team "it just doesn't get any better than this" he came away walking on air,- gone was the grouch he had been. Everyone deserves to have a luxurious bit of heaven once in a while and this is the Rolls Royce of massages in a beautiful roomy and clean setting. We loved this place and we know you will too. The Utopia of all massages... 6/6/2009

This has been my 3rd visit with Massage Therapist, Howard and I will keep on coming back. His professionalism and calm spirit helps my mind be at ease and escape from all worries and stress. I like the fact that he is willing to listen and cater to what, where and how you would like your massage to be focused on. It is definitely the Utopia of all massages....I love the stretching, the hot stones, hot towels, exfoliation and, not to forget, the amazing breast massage that sent nerves tingling to all ends of my body; all the way down to my pinky-toes; stimulating all of my happy hormones. The massage overall was breath-taking and I didn't want it to end even after 2 hours....I felt like I melted on his massage table. one of the best massages I've ever had 5/29/2009

I have had about 3 or 4 massages from Howard at Village Massage. I have kept coming back because of his professional, relaxed manner and because of the stretches he creates through my shoulders and hips. I practice yoga regularly (about 5 times a week) and am flexible but sometimes need some help to release pressure in my lower back and hips as well as tension in my upper back and shoulders. The stretches he performs does just that! The last time I went, he performed a full-body, integrative massage that included a breast massage. At first, I was a little hesitant, but Howard's manner and demeanor was perfectly professional and he made me feel completely comfortable. Fantastic Prenatal Massage 5/28/2009

I recently had two prenatal massages from Howard. I found him by reading the reviews on this website from people who previously received prenatal massages. I had been to several different places during this pregnancy but could not find someone who seemed to feel comfortable giving a prenatal massage. I left feeling no different than when I went in and they did nothing for my back pain. It almost seemed like they were nervous about putting any pressure on my muscles at all. The massage at Village Massage was the complete opposite. You will leave feeling completely relaxed and your muscles feel like jello. My back pain issue was also temporarily relieved. Everything in the reviews is spot on and I will definately continue to visit Howard for the remainder of my pregnancy. more

Very relaxing.... 5/25/2009

I can say lots of things but everyone else has said it better....I was here in 2006 as a first timer and the experience was sooooooo good. I wanted to go back many times but just never made it and recently when i really needed a massage, i could not think of anywhere else but here. I had a my second one recently and could not believe just how much better i felt afterwards. Howard i a therapist at heart.....he knows what to do, how and when. I recommend him anytime you need anykind of massage. He is respectful of your desires as you present them .....very professional and concerned about how you feel during therapy. I am a woman,and ven though both times i got a full head to toe massage,i never felt for a minute like i was overly exposed or violated. .....Both times i fell asleep on the table.....thats how relaxed i was. My Favorite Massage Ever 5/18/2009

Howard, the owner, fit me in right away when I called with severe neck and back pain. He listened to my problem, offered home exercise instruction and recommended therapeutic massage products to use at home. The ambiance was serene and calming. This was by far the best massage I've ever had and the only massage where I felt safe. Howard was open to requests during the massage in terms of areas to focus on and how much pressure to use. We went to Village Massage for couple's massage, and we really enjoyed ourselves. My wife has some back pain, and the masseuse Howard spent a great deal of time helping her back feel better. Best Massage Ever 4/1/2009

I gotten massages from many other places, several much more expensive, and Village Massage was the best ever. I came in with a throbbing headache and overwhelmed after a stressful day at work. At the end of the massage my headache was completely gone and, I am not kidding, colors seemed brighter. I have had a knot in my right shoulder off and on for the past 4 years that no other massage therapist has been able to get to. Because Howard took the time to listen to me before the massage, he knew exactly what to do and I am now knot-free. He also passed on to me a wealth of professional knowledge about my body and how it works. I recommend Howard and Village Massage to anyone and will most definitely be going back! Hidden Gem 3/13/2009

I received a gift certificate for valentines day and scheduled a message a couple of weeks ago. It was extremely easy to make an appointment and they were even understanding when I arrived a little late. The massage therapist was very welcoming and sat down to discuss what I wanted out of the session before we began. Once in the room I felt very comfortable undressing and getting on to the very nice warm table. He really went above and beyond explaining what he was doing and allowing me to relax- I was nervous as this was my first massage. He was even nice enough to give me some extra time- free of charge- to survey some other techniques to keep in mind for my next massage. I left extremely pleased and i would recommend this to everyone of all ages to enjoy. This is truly a hidden gem of Houston! Most Relaxing session Ever! 2/24/2009

I received a gift certificate to Village Massage for Christmas and just recently went to visit Howard for an amazing massage. Even before calling i checked out the Village Massage website which was extremely helpful in giving me an idea of what to ask for. I've had quite a few massages before...but none even compare to Howard! Howard was great at making me feel extremely comfortable and relaxed the entire time i was there. From the initial conversation of what i was looking for to the final conversation of how i felt about the massage, Howard was extremely attentive and nice. I have never felt so relaxed in my life! The tranquil music, warming bed, and hot stones set the perfect mood for a relaxing massage. Howard performed a great exfoliation that left my sking amazingly soft! I'm not exactly sure what it was, but he gently brushed feather like brushes across my body...it felt amazing on my face! Howard is a pro at what he does, when he would come across an area that happened to be more tense than other parts of my body he was quick to answer my question as to what could be the cause of the extra tense. I left my massage feeling absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend Village Massage and Howard to anyone looking for complete relaxation! more
