I have been a hair client of Umar's since before his coming to Thairapy Salon and Spa, and I'm awestruck with what he can do with color enhancement for different hair types and textures. He's young (but so wise), gracious, very talented, and my friends I've recommended to him are still long-term regular clients of his! I also confidently recommend his personal hair and skin care line to anyone who wants to look and feel beautiful! ;) more

Thairapy Salon & Spa is a great salon with a warm, friendly and professional atmosphere. I've been a client at this facility for a number of years. Umar is my stylist, and he is FANTASTIC! At each visit, Umar takes the time to hear my concerns and evaluate my present haircare needs. He is also a brilliant aesthetician who is well versed in skin care and hair care. He creates or modifies products to meet my unique needs a each visit. Then he takes time to educate me. I've been through different hair styles and colors with Umar's guidance. In short, Umar is da bomb! more

UMAR knows beauty 4/29/2011

Today was my best hair salon experience. Umar listened to and consulted with me on what I wanted. Then he walked me through step by step how to achieve it. He is very personable, makes great suggestions, very knowledgeable and talented in coloring, cut, style, and recommendation of products. And get this, he has his own line of makeup, skin/hair care products, and he does makeup. I mean, what does he not do? He made me feel so pampered and my hair is turned around 360 after a protein and deep conditioning. When I walked out, my hair is super healthy and glossy, and bouncy. A true professional salon experience. Excellent pricing and great products. You are so worth it, so go check it out! more

Beauty is what Umar Enhances!!! 4/10/2011

This salon has you feeling Sexy the moment you walk in. The interior decor is settle yet just the right touch: the aroma of incense, music of relaxation, and the beverage choices are incredible. Umar is by far one of the most creative and talented Salon Artists behind scissors. I don't let anyone touch my hair unless his name is "Umar". I have taken both my mom and sister to experience what it is like to have their hair done by a true Artist and loved every moment of his creativity. Do not be offended if he does not make conversation with you while he is cutting your hair - you can see the wheels turning in his head, focusing on you only to give you exactly what you asked for. He doesn't call it BEAUTY by UMAR for nothing..... more

Umar is very skillful and intuitive when it comes to my hair. I am always satisfied when I leave. I also love his products which are offered at the salon. The staff at Thairapy is very attentive and friendly. I finally found something that works for me! more

Umar is Awesome! 2/25/2011

Let me first begin by saying that I had one person cut and style my hair for over 15 years. Then I moved and was VERY scared to try anyone new...to the point of making out-of-town trips to see my original stylist. Eventually, this became too laborious. So...I went through the scary process of trying several stylists at an unnamed location before I happened upon Umar at Thairapy 6 months ago. :-) I can honestly say that Umar does an awesome job with my hair both in highlighting and cutting it! He takes a genuine interest in making sure that he knows my likes and dislikes and isn't satisfied until my hair looks the way I want it to look. I am happy to say that I've found a new stylist that I adore. :-) more

Best Hair Colorist in Houston- UMAR 9/10/2010

Umar at Thairapy is a magnificent hair stylist but more specifically, he does an amazing, outstanding job on my color. My hair color is always consistent and looks glorious like the very first time he colored my hair. I love Umar! I don't have to stress about my color bc I know it is going to be perfect. I can just relax and enjoy his company. The spa itself is great. They have great stylist with big personality, it’s always a fun atmosphere. I actually look forward to my appts., it just so much fun. The salon is always clean and best of all they serve awesome mimosas’. Love this place; if you need a colorist, you need to hit up Umar at Thairapy! more

Lisa is Fantastic! 8/29/2010

I have been searching for just the salon for me . . . one that will listen to my thoughts on what I want, take into consideration what may not be possible, discuss those considerations and make adjustments, and then find out more about my lifestyle that creates limitations on what I will be able to do with my hair. Lisa at Thairapy did just that! I love my cut and, just since last Thursday when I cut and colored, have gotten dozens of comments on how great my hair and color look. I found my new salon and stylist/colorist and I'm staying! She listened to everything and I got exactly the cut and color that will work for me. I love that the salon is smaller and more of a boutique style, but offers all services at reasonable prices. They even called afterward to find out if my cut and color are working for me and if I was happy with the services. Do give Lisa a try . . . you WON'T be sorry. more

I absolutely loved my hair cut. I have always had problems with people cutting my hair because of my cowlicks and my curly hair. He did a fabulous job, and I loved the ambiance of the salon!! I would recommend everyone to stop by and get their hair did by Umar! more

Umar is the BEST! 8/22/2010

I have had many salon experiences but this has by far the best. My stylist was very patient with me, he did not talk down to me or make me feel like just another head of hair. He asked me what i wanted, let me bring in pictures prior to the appointment and even allowed me to send him emails of the other ideas i had about my hair. He explained to me how to maintain my color and gave me options that worked for my budget. I highly recommend Umar to any one who is looking for a true professional. My hair looks great and i getting so many compliments on my color. My hair looks wonderful! i am so happy with his work! I will be back! more

Disappointment 7/19/2010

I had a hair cut, which made my hair all uneven and the hairdresser thinned my hair so much that I could not believe. It seemed that he was doing that for the first time and did not know when to stop. I also had highlights. After a while having my hair under the drier, some type of liquid slipped into my right eye. I had to yell to have someone come and help me wash my eye (which hurt quite a bit, but luckily no permanent damage). When checking out, the hair dresser increasingly insisted that i buy certain product. Reluctantly, I ended up buying this product, which I have never used, but felt under pressure to acquire it. Even though my first experience was not the best, I decided to give the salon a second change and scheduled an updo and make up. The lady doing my updo performed a horrible job; and the make up I had to wash off when I got home. I do not recommend this place at all. Pros: cannot think of any Cons: pressure, lack of attention, poor professional service more

Lisa did a terrific color and cut -- gorgeous! 4/30/2010

I went into Thairapy today, never having colored my hair before, and the front 1/3rd was grey. Also needed a cut with shape, style, but easy to manage. Lisa talked to me for a long time, determining what cut and color would best fit my personality and be the most natural looking. She did a fabulous job! Everyone is saying how shiny, healthy and beautiful my hair is. The grey is gone, and a rich, glossy brown -- very very natural, only healthier looking and feels silky! The cut is classic, perfect for my face and my busy schedule. Thank you Lisa for my wonderful hair!!! WONDERFUL and GREAT PRICING 9/17/2009

I've gotten hooked on thairapy!! Lisa gave me a great hair cut and Umar was wonderful with my husband. We had just moved to houston and I had recently colored my hair red at my previous salon, and wanted to go back to my natural dirty blonde color. Lisa knew exactly what cool, dark tinted color needed to be put in my hair to react with the red and change me back to my natural color. I was so scared when I first saw the ash color she was putting in, but we talked for like 30 minutes before she did anything. She really took time to make sure I understood the process, She wasn't bossy or pushy and I would urge anyone who goes to her to trust her. The colors reacted just as she said they would and I got my natural color that I love back. Go to thairapy! They have talented, passionate stylist you can trust and the prices are the best you'll find for this high quality. Pros: ambience, great technicians, free mimosas more

Great salon! 5/7/2009

I decided to look for a new salon after my old place kept raising their prices. I chose to try Lisa at Thairapy based on the reviews and I am so glad I did! I have been to her for both a haircut and highlights and have been very pleased with the results. She takes the time to talk to you about what you want, gives suggestions on what would work best for your hair, and cuts the length that you specify. To top off an already pleasant experience, the prices are very reasonable. I have not tried any of the other stylists, but from what I have seen, they are all talented. The salon has a very warm atmosphere and everyone that works there is very friendly and welcoming. Pros: quality of service, prices, friendly atmosphere Cons: none more

Good Waxing Services! 4/17/2009

I came here for the first time to get a brazilian wax and was pleasantly surprised with what a good job their skin specialist, Sandy, did. She uses the good, hard blue wax which makes for a much more tolerable experience than soft wax and cloth strips. The whole process was relatively quick and though not completely pain-free, was much less painful than most other places. Also, the price was very reasonable and will keep me coming back! more

Exceeded my Expectations 3/8/2009

After getting tired of driving to the Woodlands from downtown to get my hair done, I reluctantly took my husband's advice to go and see Lisa who cuts his hair just down the street. Surprisingly, I was amazed! Although it is not obvious from the street view, Thairapy is a small, cozy - yet modern salon with friendly people and reasonable prices. Lisa does an amazing job with my hair color (highlights/lowlights) and cuts! Every shampoo comes with a 15 minute scalp massage that literally puts me to sleep each time. Thairapy is now offering some pretty good deals on cut and color combinations since everyone is trying to tighten their budget these days. Overall, I reccomend the place out and defintely ask for Lisa.....Although I realize after writing this review it may be more difficult to get an appointment!! more
