beautiful, versatile, and unique 5/28/2010

I frequent ""the Villlage,"" downtown Claremont, quite often and I started shopping at Amelie a few years ago. I work in the industry and I am familiar with the brands that the owner carries. This store is hands down, the best womens contemporary boutique in the area. The owner is so friendly knowlegeable about fashion that I usually end up chatting with her for at least half an hour evry time I am in the mood for retail therapy. She chooses many pieces that you can't find at the mall but stills carries J Brand, Hudson, Goldsign, Patterson and alternative. My favorite brand that she carries though is Wish. There is only one other store that I know of that carries the line as it comes all the eay from Australia. Whether I need an outfit from the office or for a night on the town, I know that I can find what I am looking for at Amelie. In the last year, I have noticed her bringing in a lot more afforable brands so I know that if I spend $100 on a dress I can find a belt for $30 to match. The girls are so friendly and go out of their way to assist me with anything I need. The sales are PHENOMENAL (seriously), and her Amelie buck program keeps me coming back weekly to check out the new arrivals. Highly reccomend! Pros: huge selection, great prices more

Too expensive, bad service. 8/11/2009

I have shopped here before and have never bought anything because it was all too expensive. I was trying to buy something from the sale area and the person working at the store was to busy talking on the phone and laughing to help me. I took the item up to the counter and the girl told me to hold on, she said I will be right with you! I could not ""hold on"" because I had to get back to work. I left after 5 min. of listening to her laugh and say "" Oh my God,,No way hahahaha!"" I will never shop at Amelie again. Pros: Claremont Cons: Very bad service more

I went in recently to buy a gift and although they have a great selection was completely turned off by the snooty sales girls. Pros: parking Cons: service more

Beautiful dresses, Lovely hanbags, Great store. 6/11/2008

I love this store. I stopped in during the holidays and purchased two of the Tolani scarves to give as gifts and ended up buying one for myself. They carry beautiful dresses from great designers along with a nice selection of denim. I can?t wait to go back. Pros: Tasteful selection of clothing, handbags and jewelry. more

It Pays to Wait? 1/25/2008

I like to shop and love good clothes. Amelie is a fun store, but I felt cheated when I asked two sales people about a further reduction on sale items one day. They said there would be no further reductions. It was definitely a good sale, but I decided to pass on this one top. When I went back in just three days later, deciding that I wanted the top after all, that very top WAS marked down futher. I asked about this and instead of saying, ""Sorry we told you something that turned out not to be true"", I was told, ""It's only 10%, just $6"". I love boutiques and I try to support local stores, but deceptive salespeople or policies and a lack of empathy at Amelie are going to make me think twice before shopping there again. It also gives mom and pop stores a bad name and drives consumers to the big retails stores - which have a policy of refunding you the difference on an item within two weeks of a further drop in price. Remember: It Pays To Wait!! (If you're willing to lose the size you need). Pros: Nice merchandise Cons: Expensive more

Love this store! 5/29/2007

This is one of the best stores in So Cal! It carries a good selection of jeans and tees but, what makes it really cool is it has a spot on selection of what is totally cool and happening. The owner has a great eye for what is trendy yet you'll be wearing it for years. I have bought several fashion forward items here that have become ""classic"" staples in my wardrobe. They carry a line of jewelry form VirginsSaints and Angels that is absolutuley beautiful. Citizens of Humanity jeans and James Perse Tees and always have a few eco friendly lines in their store. more
