Did the tel # just change, or did they close down? 10/3/2009

I've only been to this salon ... twice, I believe, and it was also from a $55.00 package that was solicited to my company while I was at work... (several years ago... 2006-2007). In reading some of the comments listed, I must say... Having worked in customer service for a total of 7+ years, I can agree that one of the first impressions from a [new] customer will be determined by how (s)he is greeted when they enter through your doors. At both of my visits to J & J Designs, no one greeted me. However, I just found myself a spot on the sofa and waited patiently. In the big picture, some people may not care too much, while others do- and these individuals may even feel uncomfortable because it may be their first, or second, time there. Although I wouldn't rate this salon an "A" on helping to make their [new] customers feel welcomed, I will agree that the service performed was of better quality than a few of my experiences at other local salons, respectively. The young stylist who worked with me was very nice, however, although she no longer works there as she had moved. Because I truly loved the colors and work that was done to my hair, I will go back for that reason. I will say, however, that another downfall will be the payment options that are allowed. I wasn’t informed at the time I made my appointment that only cash or checks were acceptable forms of payment for services performed. This would have been helpful. Luckily, I had my checkbook with me. So, without further delay, I suddenly wanted to feel "pretty" (*lol*) and looked them up so that I can call to schedule an appointment. Unfortunately, the contact number listed above (952-546-7259) was reported as having been "disconnected". Does anyone know if this location has gone out of business, or did they just change their phone number and/or location? Pros: Quality Hair Service; Nice Stylist (No Longer There) Cons: No Greets; Small Parking Lot; Pymt Options for Services more

Patty Johnson knows how to work with hair! 7/17/2008

Patty J. gives the best hair cuts ever! She is great with color or foils, and brow waxing too! I've sent many friends in to Patty ? men and women ? and they all tell me what an awesome job she does. Patty is a very warm and friendly. She always has great ideas for new styles, which is terrific for me since I am always switching up my style and color. Pros: Patty Johnson is awesome more

Eh 3/21/2007

To be honest, I was not pleased when I walked in. No one greeted me. The sylists would flit about, but apparently none of them were supossed to greet the clients walking in. I went there because of the $55 package I bought. I was early, but was not seen until 10 or 15 minutes after my appointment. I met my stylist (Raina), whom I liked a lot. The first time I went, I used the highlight package. In that package it said the eyebrow waxings were free, but then she told me that was a misprint. It was only $5.00, so I got them done. She did a FANTASTIC job with the waxing and highlights. I had to bring my 4 year old daughter with (I had told them I would have to bring her) but one of the stylists was a complete b*tch about it (there is no better way to describe her). Another stylist (maybe the owner?) noticed my daughter had some color in her hair and did a treatment to get the purple out. She didn't charge me for it which was nice. I went back the second time to get my hair cut. I was also ignored this time when I walked in. I was early (again), but I didn't see Raina, so I just waited. Eventually, she came out of the back room and we started my haircut early. She did a really good job. Raina is the best thing about that place. I have not used my other packages and I don't think I will. I will go back to get my hair cut and highlighted only because of Raina. If I would have gotten any other stylist, I would never go back. Pros: Raina Cons: Everyone else, bad customer service, no credit cards, crappy parking lot more

best hair cut ever! 3/18/2007

Hi, i tell all my friends that i have had the best expereinces at JJ designs. My 1st haircut came from a 4 visit pkg purchased by my employer. Sytlist Raina gave all of us some of our best cuts and colors ever. Yes it's true she's amazing and very personable.. And our massage therapist although quite young, is really good and she also is a manicurist giviing 1st rate pedis and manis and she's charming. And if you are dissatified in any way they are quick to find a solution to solve the issue. A friend of mine was not quite sure she liked her cut and they offered a free touch-up cut, but after a few days my friend realized she loved the cut, she just wasn't used to it at 1st. Hair cut and color prices are comparable to other good salons in the city - which means not cheap but worth the service. The mani, pedi and massage prices are very reasonable. It's a lively salon with a refreshing staff and lots of product to choose from - highly reccomended. more

lchristi27 is wrong. This place is awesome! 2/19/2007

First of all, lchristi27, just because you were doing the wrong thing with your hair and your stylist objectively gave you a few suggestions, doesn't mean that they have 'horrible customer service. Sorry she was running late, but that happens to all of us. I use J & J Designs and I have never once seen any of the girls act snobby or rude to anyone! They joke around, yes, but they are not in the least 'snobby'. I doubt that they would color your hair without asking what color you would like!! That is ridiculous. Stylists obviously have to have a license to work, which means they have recieved an education and have experience. I look forward to every 6th Friday when I know that I can go in and completely relax for the next 2 and a half hours. These girls are the best and I agree with stephanielietzau, I would follow them wherever they went. I have trusted my hair to the owner and her staff for almost 10 years and would never consider them rude or snobby. I truly know that all of the stylists who work there strive for an exceptional experience for every guest, every time. Maybe you'll have a better experience the second time around. You choose your own mood, lchristi27, hopefully next time you will choose to see these girls for who they really are instead of expecting it to be horrible. Pros: Customer service, location and prices. Cons: no credit cards (except for product) more

Horrible Customer Service 9/12/2006

I'm not sure why anyone would recommend this place or even set foot in there. I went because they are running a promotion that you get 4 visits for $55.00. The first one was for a haircut. I added on a foil and an eyebrow wax which I got a discount on, but had to pay for. First I arrived 5 minutes early, only to find out my stylist wasnt even there yet. Then I noticed a sign that said Credit Cards not Accepted. Are you kidding me? I never carry anything but my debit card to pay for stuff! I was told it is because each stylist is an independent contractor so you pay them directly. Ok, whatever. After my stylist did show, 15 minutes later she told me everything I had been doing wrong to my hair and cut it way to short. She didnt ask what color I wanted and made it way to streaky, and the color mixed wrong in the back. She then waxed my eyebrows and they are totally uneven. All the people who worked there seemed like snobs except my stylist, she was very nice. They treated her like dirt and were talking about her behind her back while I was there, or pointed out things she did wrong. One told her not to use the tweazers by the sink. It seemed to me they were picking on her. I felt very unconfortable the whole time. I still have 3 visits left. One is for a massage, the massage therapist they had there looked me up and down like I was some kind of freak. I really dont ever want to set foot in that place again. Pros: Price was average, but definetly not worth the experience Cons: Staff is a bunch of snob want to be's. They act like they are all that, but they arent. more

This salon is amazing - the only people I trust my hair and nails to. I would follow this salon to the other end of the world!!! The stylists are charming and actually care about their clients. The atmosphere is calming - and it is always very clean. They are reasonably priced versus competitors in the market, but the skill of the stylists is what keeps me coming back!!! They also have tanning and sell products they actually use in the store. Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly, Close to everything Cons: NeedToBook In advance more
