La Petite Academy

I recently went to tour at this school. I arrived unannounced and the director was very helpful. She showed me around the infant classroom (I have a 6 month old) and when I asked to see other rooms she took me around the school. The school was clean and the kids were really engaged in what they were doing. All of the teachers welcomed me and the caregivers in the infant room went above and beyond making me feel welcome. We had visited some other schools in the area, but we enrolled here on the spot. We are very happy with our choice and love how friendly everyone is. more

I was looking for care for my child and this was one of the centers I saw.\r I would not go back there. Simple as that. more

I have been a parent at this school for about 9 months. There is a new director and assistant director in place as of march and things seem to be looking better. Some of the old staff have left and the building is looking cleaner. They just updated all of the roof and siding and the director is saying that they are ordering all new equipment and furniture, so we will see. I think if that arrives it will be much better. It just looks old right now. But at least it is clean.\r I read some of the older reviews and it would seem that they are on top of calling about children being sick, my child is in the two's room and in the time we have been there I have been called at work multiple times because she isn't acting normal or has a fever.\r Overall we are happy with La Petite, I can't wait to see it when the new equpment arrives\r Pros: Things are looking better Cons: Needs updating more

I have had both my kids here for over a year, and am completely disgusted. I am on the search for new care for my youngest and summer care for my older child. My toddler has contracted drug-resistant staph 3 times! Four if you count the red spot I just found on her this morning. Also we have taken in diapers for her twice in as many weeks, only to have to bring more just a few days later? She's been bitten many times. One day she came home with 5 bites from one child!! \r My older child was there for the summer and every month we got a calendar itenerary of the field trips and fun things they were supposed to be doing. They did a small fraction. In fact, pretty much the entire month of August they watched movies ALL day. The woman (I refuse to call her a teacher) who was in the room with the older kids in the late afternoons is just horrid! She sits on her rear end and yells at the kids. I never saw them outside once she appeared, either. \r Seems like ever since the director left, the quality of care has gone downhill, and the good teachers are leaving. I'll be pulling my little one out as soon as I find a better place. And I'm making a complaint with their corporate office and the licensing commission. I'd complain to someone in the office, but THERE ISN""T A DIRECTOR OR ANYONE ELSE TO SPEAK TO! more

I enrolled both my girls at this preschool when I first moved the the area (it's not easy to find good preschools in Pflugerville!). I loved the location and the overall security of the school. On average, my girls seemed to learn from the cirriculum (but I always felt like the teachers were overwhelmed). The school could use some 'updates' (there are no computers) and it was a tad shabby. My low rating is a direct result of what happened to my oldest on her last day there. She cried ALL DAY (she is normally a pretty emotional child) and they didn't call us (not once). We live very close to the school, and we could have easily have run over there and checked on her. She went to bed that night right after dinner (VERY unusual for her) and was obviously running a fever (again, they NEVER called). By the next day, she was running very high fever and my youngest was sick too. We've had a lot of experience with daycare, and know what to expect (sick kids, etc) but have never encountered a place that didn't contact parents when a child is obviously sick. I wouldn't recommend this school. more
