Best so far 10/29/2006

In the year I have lived in the area, I have been to Kreuz and Smittys in Lockhart, Cartwrights here in Bastrop, and Meyers and Crosstown in Elgin. Crosstown is the best overall so far. The brisket was very tasty but a bit dry. Thats because GF didnt want the fatty part like I love. The chicken had been done for a while, but it was still moist and very tasty. The ribs were very good as well. The sauce was tasty, but thin and not my favorite style. But then, who needs sauce? Maybe Kreuz; but not this place. I also thought the prices were very reasonable. But then, you sure dont pay for atmosphere here cause it has none. But then, who needs atmosphere? Pros: Just good Que! Cons: None that I could see. more

Hidden treasure 8/12/2006

We have recently tried out this hidden spot. Its pretty darn good. A down home-style place where everyone sits together. Not much to look at but it adds to the Country large family setting. We liked it more

Elgins Best BBQ 4/10/2005

Theres not to much to say about Crosstown other than it is some of the best BBQ that myself as well as friends have run across in yrs. The chicken is to die for the brisket is cut as desired. Ribs leave you wanting more, and the sausage is very good as well. Pros: Chicken, Ribs, Sausage Cons: N/A more

good food, no fuss 11/30/2002

i have lived in elgin for all of my 25 years and i would like to let everyone know that crosstown is the place that the "locals" go. its in the town and not on the highway so few people know about it. the ribs are the best, the brisket is juicy and the sausage is good to. its simple and a little out of the way but worth it. Pros: ribs, brisket, inexpensive Cons: location more
