I don't know the particulars of the other respondent, but I can say without reservation that Dr. Spellman is a superb vet. He saved my dog's life as a puppy when she had Parvo, and showed me how to keep her alive in the week or so when she was fighting the disease. I had to take her home because I couldn't afford to pay to keep her in the Vet 's care during her recovery, and he gave me detailed instructions and the required medicine and let me take her home. I don't think that shows a proclivity to being money hungry... it shows he understands that people have different budgets, and that the animal's life is what is important. I have been taking my dog to him for over 12 years since, and she has been healthy and well cared for. If he suggests something I can't afford, he will understand and try to find a cheaper solution. However, any merchant wants to get paid for his services...just as any person who works for a living does.
