TERRIBLE SERVICE! 9/15/2010

This place has the worst service in the city. No question about it. The owner has been hiring tall, thin, attractive males who are TERRIBLE at their jobs ever since the place opened. It makes me wonder if there's a sexual component to the owner's hiring practices. In any case, these guys are aggressively uninterested in serving the customers. They act like they're doing you the ultimate kindness to even pretend to take your order. Odds are, they'll get that wrong, too. Either way, you're gonna wait. And wait. And wait. Life is precious, people. Too precious to waste at a no-talent, hack dive like Longhorn Poboys. more

Mediterranean Eats on a Wendy's Wallet... 9/25/2008

The first time I tried Longhorn Poboys, I was working on a Saturday. Service, while ""leisurely"" paced, was not inordinately slow. The atmosphere is very ecletic, but the real gem of this place is the food. They cut the meat for the gyros and toss it on the flat-top for that extra golden-brown crunch. The falafel is very tasty, possibly the best I've had in the Austin area to date. The tabouli is fresh, and the dolmas particularly tasty - I've only had them this good at a pricey ""sit-down"" restaurant. Granted, the limited seating can be a negative, especially during the lunch R-U-S-H, but it is well worth the wait, or take it ""to go"" and head for Waterloo Park for a sunny picnic. Make sure you skip the rolls and get your sammiches on a pita - they are unbelieveably great! Pros: Value for the Money, Unique Menu, Eclectic Atmosphere Cons: Parking, Seating more

Avoid at all costs 11/1/2007

Positively terrible, in every single way an eatery CAN be terrible. I went here expecting actual ""po boy"" sandwiches, with fried/cajun seafood or chicken. They don't even serve anything CLOSE to a traditional ""po boy"" sandwich. The name is very misleading!! Pros: Looked nice inside Cons: Food, service, parking lot, tip jars, pretty much everything! more
