This place has changed? 3/7/2008

I've been eating at this cafe since 1989 and I now live in Austin,TX . When I return to town for the holidays or business I always make it a point to stop in with family or co-workers from Austin.I always talk about growing up on this place and the atmosphere it has.Great food, silly music and the same witty employees. Over the last 10 years the changes have been great remodel, staff, the area has grown so much. The last few years I don't see the same faces, the attitudes have gone down hill, the place is a mess and the atmosphere isn't what it use to be. Boring food and the place was messy. After today I've had my last meal here after saying "" One more chance"" over the last few years. I even tried the new one in Universal City on the way to Austin with fellow workers. This was even worse. Bad service, the food wasn't made like I remember it being a few yrs ago.It was nowhere the caliber of food the Blanco location once was. It's a shame to see this to a once great establishment turn out like this. It seems to me the staffs and I guess the owners ,new maybe, can't keep up the old longhorn cafe way's of making once great food,or just don't care. Sorry to be the one to say so, but 16 yrs. people start to notice these things. I know I'm not the first to notice. more

The Best in the USA 6/4/2006

I started eating at the Longhorn when it was still a feed store and the Canyon Creek Country Club still existed. I have never, ever, anywhere found a burger close to theirs. The Jalepeno Cheese Burger is from another planet! Had to move to Mexico for work five years ago, return to SAT twice a year and never, ever leave without going by and eating at least twice. Chris who? You have got to be kidding. That's a joke. more

The best PLACE ever 1/14/2004

I have been eating at Longhorn Cafe for a 10 years and I have always left there Completly Satisfied. The Staff is very nice and understanding with my family we go there for every birthday. I love the deck outside because the kids get to play and we get to kick back, drink beer and listen to the live band. The hamburgers are great but I love the Hamburger Steak. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! Pros: Outside playground, Inexpensive, Friendly Staff Cons: Parking(sometimes) more

Disappointed 1/16/2003

Ny wife and I stopped at the Longhorn Cafe on Blanko road for lunch about 11:28. We got our order in and had to wait 40 minutes for 2 hamburgers and 1/2 order of fries. When we finally got our order(I had to go up and ask), the burgers were COLD. I would have returned them but there was a real rush on the business just after we got our order in and I knew it would take FOREVER. We overheard a number of people close to us that were VERY upset on the LONG wait. We had always enjoyed Longhorn but we have our doubts that we will EVER return after this experience. Pros: none, none, none Cons: food cold, wait too long, parking a problem more

Longhorn Rating 1/14/2003

I went to the new Longhorn Cafe on IH-10 last week and I enjoyed every minute of it, aside from the ""big juicy"" burgers the entire staff had a smile on their face and was happy to assist me with whatever I needed. The place has a fun family atmosphere and a great game room in the back. I think this restaurant deserves an A+ for it's quality and service. more

I have been a customer of Longhorn Cafe for 15 years and it is by far the best place to take your family and eat burgers. Pros: food, location, atmosphere Cons: clean, staff exp. new loc. more

Where's the Beef? 8/30/2002

Everything about this place is good...except for the thin hamburger patties. Sure, they're big around, but considering the size of the buns and the huge amount of toppings, the patties need to be considerably thicker. more

An irresitible habit. 8/27/2002

Longhorn Cafe' has the best burgers in town bar none. The first bite will grab you and never let go. You always want more. A churchill staple and Northside favorite. They are always busy waiting for another belly to fill with a giant hamburger. A melt in your mouth burger. Mmmmmmm....... Pros: food, country style & feel, sweet tea Cons: tight spaces, restrooms more

juicy, juicy, juicy 8/26/2002

Beats all other hamburger places in town. Friendly, considerate (and cute) employees and staff. A fun, leisure atmosphere - dont feel rushed to give up your seat. Wonderful view from the patio. Pros: effecient service, new menu item to try, handles crowds well more

THE best burgers EVER ... (and pretty good tater tots, too)! Pros: fun, fresh Cons: crowded more

bunderfully juicey 8/10/2002

Longhorn Cafe has the very best swiss & mushroom hamburgers this side of the Rio Grande! They are a tad bit messy because they are so juicey but they are well worth the mess! Pros: excellent hamburgers, great fries, inexpensive Cons: crowded, bad parking more

Best Hamburger 8/8/2002

Best Damn Hamburger I have ever Eaten in my whole entire boring life Pros: Quick, Tasty, Juicy Cons: none, none, none more

Chris Who? 8/7/2002

Can't quite figure out why Chris Madrid's got #1. I guess people in downtown don't like to venture North. Once you try a Longhorn burger you'll find nothing else stacks up. My wife and I tried the others rated higher to see if they were better but inevitably we were disappointed. Whataburger is good but #3? C'mon Whatalovers, get out and enjoy something different... the good ol' greasy taste that only Longhorn can provide. Don't forget the mushrooms! Pros: Taste, Large portions, Taste Cons: Slow, Crowded more
