\r Extremely poor service.. Took 1 1/2 hours during the interview to materialize with a pile of blank pages to sign. Didn t publish the obituary until hours before the service, and then only with prompting. Made typographical errors in obituary-no proofreading. Didn t have music that was selected for the ceremony ready. Didn t even announce or introduce the deacon when he arrived. I found him sitting in the lobby. It s also been two weeks and we have no clue as to when we will receive my mother s remains. Caveat emptor. more

Professional but waaay overpriced 2/25/2010

""Packaged deals"" are incredibly overpriced. Rent a room (viewing area), ""rent a car"" (limo/hearse) to the funeral, ""rent a minister"" (great guy, not complaining) buy a casket, embalming (no doubt worth it) all for 11,500.....what? When asked how they could justify the price? Oh, you get airline discounts, family counseling, grief counseling....blah blah blah. Very nice people, but honestly...didn't understand the ""value."" Asked them to itemize it as opposed to having a package that i didn't completely use....oh, i save a few hundred dollars! Wow! Add a few, very few, extra flowers for the display....not included in the package. That's when I wanted to show them my package....sorry for those sensitive people :-) Bottom line...nice place, but ""dignity""....my c-ass-kett. Just cuz I'm crude doesn't make me wrong :-) I tried to find my mom's obituary...found it on the newspaper's website, not indignity's....or at least, not obvious. OK, i'm done....choose wisely my friends....god bless. :-) Pros: Top of the line funeral home Cons: takes advantage of grief...way overpriced more

Great Service 8/14/2009

My Mother died on May 1, 2009. From the first phone call to the last detail, the people at Sunset were completely professional, compassionate and caring. Jessica and Mark did a superb job in handling each and every detail. We could not have asked for better service and attention to the family provided by, not only Jessica and Mark, but each person at the Funeral Home. The services for my Mother went off without a hitch and flowed as it should have.\r \r I have nothing but praise and admiration for the these two individuals. They were professional in every way and made a difficult time for our family a little easier to bear.\r \r Thank you so much Jessica and Mark.\r \r David Matheson Pros: Very Good Personal and Professional Service more

Very Professional 6/15/2009

Recently, at a friends funeral, I asked the front desk if there was a way to find my grandfathers grave. She asked me to wait a few minutes and made a phone call. Within 5 minutes she called my name and a very nice gentleman was waiting to take me to the grave site. It was a very hot day and he picked me up in a very comfortable, cool van. He allowed me to take my time visiting and showed me sites where other relatives are buryed. \r \r The funeral I attended was a pre-paid funeral. The elderly lady had purchased the service, etc. many years ago. Sunset honored the contract and treated us as though we had purchased the top of the line funeral. They sent a limo all the way to Castroville to pick up relatives. They went out of their way to be respectful and courteous. This was our first direct dealings with this funeral home and will not be our last. Pros: Very Nice People Cons: Can't think of any more

Don't go there. Terribly unprofessional 8/13/2008

After my father's death, we were promised, by the staff, several death certificates since I was the executor of the estate. We are from out of town and we felt they used this against us. ALL of the certificates were sent to a non-family member who had inside ties to this facility. We had to threaten legal action to obtain any certificates of MY OWN FATHER. I would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone. They were highly unprofessional. Pros: Nice flower shop Cons: Everything else was terrible more

rude staff, not helpful 4/6/2008

A family member who recently died had a pre-paid service with sunset memorial so the details were all taken care of but most of us are out of town and when we called to find out the timeline and details so we could make travel arrangements no one would help us. They were short, gruff and at times plain rude.\r I think it's completely unacceptable to treat breaved family in the way they did.\r I hope they clean up their act. I would never reccommend Sunset Memorial Park to anyone. more

Poor customer service. 3/14/2008

They were not helpful at all while trying to coordinate out of state obituary information. \r Staff was rude and argumentative. more
