Mrs. Tracie,\r Here at The Shining Stars Academy we strive daily to maintain a safe haven for all of our little shining stars. It is our pleasure and duty to provide a caring, loving, fun and learning environment. It is also our responsibility as caregivers to make sure our students receive excellent care. \r When our parents leave their child in our care they become our number one priority. As started earlier in your post all the staff and teachers love and adore Lily and in return she loved being here at The Shining Stars Academy. We just have that type of effect on our little angels. \r As a result of our caring heart and professionalism our students leave with a smile and ready to start the day the next morning. Because of that, many of our new enrollments are a result of family referrals. The Shining Stars Academy will continue to serve the public in excellence. \r As far as any and all incidents staff, teachers, and the Center manager ALWAYS follow the appropriate procedures to insure that all incidents are addressed immediately. This along with other policies make us shine even the more. \r After speaking with you on several occasions we trust that we handled your statements and concerns in the most professional manner. Mrs. Tracie we truly wish the best for Lily and know that you are still welcome at The Shining Stars Academy.\r more

Everything was fine while my daughter was in the infant's room. When moved to the toddler's room my daughter came home EVERYDAY with marks across her face, she had two bust lips and the last straw was a bite mark and a bloody nose. The director never ackonwledged the bloody nose nor did she apologize. In fact, she argued with my husband saying my daughter's nose wasn't bloody; when in fact I asked the teacher why was her nose was bleeding with the director was standing there but she was too busy trying to explain the bite mark. Yesterday she wanted a DRY piece of bread!!! I have NEVER fed my daughter dry bread. I paid these people in excess of $4000 within 6 months for my daughter to be abused. They never called to apologize or acknowledge what happened to my child. What makes it worse it that ALL the staff LOVED my daughter and said how sweet she is and a helper. She is the only child but I know when someone is being picked on by other kids, especially when they have the scars to prove it. The last two weeks my daughter attended Shining Stars she screamed and hollered in the mornings, one morning she refused to go into the daycare. Well, Thank God for protection!!! I finally figured it out. I hope you reconsider sending your child to Shining Stars. Someone advised me not to but I didn't listen. Please learn from my daughter's horrific experience from this money hungry daycare. They are in it for the money. I am now paying $180 less and my daughter isn't being beat on by other toddlers or hungry. She is actually learning and being potty trained. \r \r \r God bless,\r \r Concerned and very hurt parent more

Regarding Academy II 4/14/2011

We did request a meeting with the parent and she decided to not attend the meeting. We never denied her the opportunity to review the video. We were the ones that brought to her attention about the scratches on her child when she brought the child in.She then stated that we were try to tell her that she was abusing her children and that she already has a lawsuit out on her last day care for the same reason. We do serve hot meals and nutritious meals we have been in business for 30 years care for children and we are now caring for our 2nd generation. We also have a pre-school and an HISD program in which an HISD teacher come to educate our children. more

FAR FROM AN ACADEMY II 4/7/2011

. The owner herself is a nut job. I met with her to try to get her to make me feel better...because you know, that is what they are supposed to do after your kids come home with unexplainable marks. She started admitting the wrongs they made at first, but then towards the end of the conversation she scolded me for missing my meeting with her daughter, the director that I totally forgot that I had at noon. She blatantly scolded me. Are you serious?! Since she couldn't properly handle my case, I called CPS and they are under investigation. Also, they should really learn how to wash a damn bottle clean with hot water. The meals are lame and unhealthy. I didn't like seeing the kids eating Oreo cookies for snack. The other daycare serves them fruit or cheese or yogurt...you know HEALTHY snacks. My kids were only at this daycare for a WEEK and they both got extremely sick. My son had a stomach virus that lasted two weeks after. He had diarrhea and vomiting...it is highly likely because they didn't wash the bottle properly. Hello! Milk gets old and can get a child sick if it's old or if any traces of old milk are left on the bottle! When I asked to see the video of my kids' day so that I can rest at ease about their scratches or marks, the staff just stood there like a deer in headlights. It's like, UH...DOES THE THING EVEN WORK?!? Only the BEST daycares would be willing to show you the video. My daughter came home with a mark on her face at the best daycare in the world and I asked to see the video. The director sat there with me and we watched her whole day. There was nothing. Only explanation was the cot she was lying on and that she was probably laying face down on the bar part of the cot. A non guilty daycare center would quickly be willing to show you the video, not stand there and act like there is no such thing as cameras. Oh I told CPS this, too...I told CPS EVERYTHING. DO NOT bring your kids to this poorly kept disease ridden staff scratching, staff child neglecting daycare! The OWNER is all about the PROFIT. NOT the kids. You can tell when a GOOD DAYCARE INVESTS their MONEY into their center. MONEY MAKES MONEY and you cannot make ample money if you are not INVESTING your money into a place. The damn owner charges $3 to swipe your card, as well when making a payment. That's when you KNOW they are a for profit only daycare. They excused the $3 charge when I shook my head and said I've never had a $3 charge when paying for my child's daycare fee. They are FAR FROM an ACADEMY. Don't be fooled by ""ACADEMY"" being in their name. I am still waiting for the $28 that they said they'd MAIL me. They want to MAIL it to me because they are a-holes like I said, FOR PROFIT. If they do not pay it, I will report them to the TDFPS. PS: Their education curriculum is nonexistent. more

Daycare 11/21/2010

We found this place through some daycare center; which at the time was GOD sent back in 2007. We were going through a very ROUGH patch and COURT battle and OVERALL the front desk and teachers made it easier! We did like the idea of the overnight care, for we had late work schedules BUT when that ended they worked with us; so kudos. I can't say ANYTHING was a perfect system and from time to time we HAD conflicting issues, however, our 1st child progressed well. Now we have a 10month old and mom feels a little uneasy but by GOD'S grace and familarity we trust that our child will be just fine. more

no manners in that daycare 8/10/2009

Great 11/28/2008

I love this day care. I have been taken my child here since she was 18 month old. As a first time parent they were very accommodating. Sure there is no place that is as perefect as your home. But any problem that arose the director was very helpful and made sure all the problems were resolved. I would recommened it to anyone with children. And now they have a real pre-school, very good for my 3 year old. more

ONLY GOOD FOR CONVENIENCE 9/26/2008

IF YOU SEND YOUR CHILD THERE PLEASE BE PREPARED TO SPEND MONEY . MY CHILD HAS LOST SO MANY THINGS AT THIS SCHOOL WHEN SHE WAS AN INFANT AT THE TIME THEY WOULD DO BAG CHECKS AT THE BEGINING OF THE DAY TO SEE WHAT SHE CAME IN WITH AND AT THE END OF THE DAY IF ANYTHING WAS MISSING THE TEACHER WOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. WELL THAT DIDNT LAST LONG. WHEN HER BOTTLES, BIBS, WINTER JACKET, PACIFIER, AND EARRINGS CAME UP MISSIN THEY HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT NOW MIND YOU THAT THIS WASN'T EVERYDAY, SO I HAD TO BASICALLY TAKE THE LOST. AS FOR THE SUPERVISION, IT'S TERRIBLE MY CHILD HAS HAD SO MANY INJURIES DO TO THE LACK OF RESPONSIBILTY, AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST THE MANAGEMENT IS VERY POOR THE OWNER AND THE ASSISTANTS CAN BE REALLY ROOD AT TIMES ONLY WHEN THEY FEEL LIKE YOUR A PROBLEMED CUSTOMER. MY THING IS IF YOU BRING YOUR CHILD TO A CARE FACILITY YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEIR WELL BEING YOU PAY FOR ""CHILD CARE"". more

Oh well!! 1/18/2008

I really liked this Daycare until the owner just decided overnight to stop the 24 hour service! But oh well to each its own more
