Primo's Tex-Mex Grille - Uptown

We sat down around 7:45 on a Saturday night; not too busy yet, but it started to get busy while we were eating. The food was great, but the service was a little slow. It took a few times asking for our waiter to bring us what we asked for. We ordered pitchers of margaritas which took a lot longer to get to our table than they should have. Great food and great patio space though; the fish tacos were great!\r Primo's is still a great spot in Uptown. more

This is the one next to Bass Pro. This was our first trip to this location and we will not be back. The food was not good at all, the service was horrible, and the music was so loud the only thing you could hear over it, was the middle age drunks at the bar who should have been cut off many drinks ago. Apparently they charge a gratuity for parties of 6 or more even though the menu states in black and white 8 or more. By the way this includes children under one year of age. At least it did in our case. Four adults and two children both under the age of 5. A 20% gratuity was placed on our check. Typical for what is becoming normal service in the Dallas, Fort Worth area. more

HOLY COW THIS PLACE WAS GREAT!!!! I think that about says it all...I heard about this place and decided to take a gander to see what the hype was all about. I went there on a Tuesday night, and man, was this place rocking! The night started off on a pretty good note, when I got there I found out that it was valet parking only, which made me kind of hesitant. But come to find out, valet was only $5 so that was a very pleasant surprise. I then proceeded to the entrance?but didn?t get very far because there was a nice long line to get in. While standing in line, I had a chat with a very nice fellow by the name of ?TINMAN?, he told me about the Tuesday $2 margarita specials and the ?to die for fajitas?. After about 5 minutes of standing in line and watching all of the ?eye candy? that occupied the place, I knew all of the hype was true. Needless to say, I enjoyed every bit of my fajita dinner and after a couple of margaritas, my girlfriend and I had a VERY ENTERTAINING night. Pros: Pretty people Cons: Mostly standing room more

Primo's is the place to be Tuesday nights. If you want to just people watch while enjoying their delicious drinks or sample their tasty menu items, it is the ideal place to just sit back and relax. My husband and I really love the atmosphere there and the friendly staff makes the exprience all the more memorable. Pros: Excellent service and foo quality that makes it worth the wait! Cons: Get there early cause it really gets packed! more

Tuesday nite is the place to be in Dallas. The wait is long but food and drinks are well worth the wait. I got great service from Tin. He made sure I got a table as soon as possible. He was very attentive. Thanks for a great time! Pros: Great service and great drinks! Cons: Long wait more

This is the worst mexican food I have eaten, ever. The food tastes like reheated frozen food. The Margaritas are equally disappointing. My boyfriend and I just moved here and thought we would check it out because it is always so crowded. I really do not understand why anyone would go there more than once. I wouldn't eat there again if you paid me. more

I love this place, it's my favorite place to get away from real life and have a good meal with friends. Watch out for the jalape?o popper's, they're hot! yes, this place has cheap rita's, but they taste like bath water with some lime and salt added to it. Food is poor at best. I agree that Taco Bell has better food than this place. The patio is a good place to people watch, but there are too many mega-douches to make it worthwile. Get here early otherwise you'll be waiting for a long time to sit among the mega-douches. more

We were new in town and heard from a local, Tinman was his name! He said come try this restaurant/bar out. So we did, and let me say I was very impressed. The crowd was totally my age group, lots of hot guys and girls! The staff was great, very friendly. The food was awesome, I ordered fajitas (beef) great! And the chips and salsa was to die for. We sat outside, and boy was this place a hip and moving joint. People of all kinds were coming and going. I loved it. I'm gonna go back on a Tuesday so I can do the margarita night! OMG, you have got to go to this location on Tuesday nights! They have cheap margaritas with great taste! I love the atmosphere outside. Talk about high class people coming and going! I have been to Primo's 4 times, being forced to eat there because of my co-workers. The only reason this place is still open is because it has a tremendous location, along with a great patio, and one of the few reasonably priced mexican options in Uptown. Every meal I have gotten has been mediocre, and not near deserving of the price. The enchiladas are atrocious, the rice is overcooked and tasteless, and the refried beans are similar to what the bums under the Woodall Rogers freeway are dining on. My boyfriend and I are both from New York, so of course when the Giants were playing against the Packers in the NFC title championship game, we wanted to watch the game at a great place so he picked Frankie's Bar and Grill. We figured since it wasnt the Cowboys playing, there wouldnt be a problem getting a table with good TV viewing seats. Well we were wrong. I guess everyone had the same idea or they all had converted to NY Gaints fans. Needlless to say the place was packed. You could barely make it through the door nonetheless get to the bar, I didnt even bother wasting a wish on getting a table to feed my straving stomach. After, 5 mins of scoping the place out, we left. Walked down the block and found Primo's! My priority at that time was to get some food; his was to be seated before kickoff. Primo's at that moment offered a solution to both our problems.The place was busy and buslting. Surprisingly, we only waited less then 10 minute for seating and was seated in the patio that had a big screen TV. Primo's was a great stumble find. Overall, we enjoyed watching the game there. The sevice was good and the atmosphere was great(even though we were surrounded by mostly Packer's fans). The flavorfull and tastey food came as a surprise since the place had such a sports bar feel. I loved the fish tacos!!! We ordered the flan for dessert but was not impressed but the icing on our cake was having the Gaints win. So we ate and had a win too!!! more

Reasonably priced. GREAT location. Truly a good place to hang out -- lunch or dinner. I've been going to Primo's since I moved to Dallas in2002. more

Good place for a tex-mex lunch. I've always had good service here. Great outdoor patio. Fun for a happy hour margarita, too. more
