the animals here are not being treated the best. the first occasion I visited everything looked alright, except for one of the rabbits. It's ear was loppy, which is natural for some rabbits but this one seemed not as healthy; not as energetic as the others. I returned 3 days later to find the same bunny had lost a lot of weight was even less energetic AND had lost an eye. The eye was closed shut, and you could see visible dried blood around the socket. I do not recommend buying your newest addition to your family from Pet Village. more

Parvo Infestation 3/18/2012

Wow. I should have done some research before buying a new family pet from here. But instead, because I am a trusting person and like to support local small businesses, I made the mistake of walking in with my husband and falling in love with the cutest puppy ever. We waited a few days and made the decision to purchase him if he was still there on Friday of last week. He was a surprise for our 3 young children. I felt better when the more personable owner(?) came up to check me out and explained their guarantee and boasted how they use great and local breeders. She said that if there were any congenital problems, they would need to hear directly from the vet while we were still in the office...the next day, his checkup went ok, but he had a hernia (congenital) but the doctor said that it may go away or they would just take care of it when we spayed him in a fews months.....we called Pet Village like they asked. I wasn t looking for monetary payback, I just wanted them to know that there were some issues with the litter. The response the vet tech and I got was by far the fastest, jump-to-conclusion and accusations i have ever experienced! She was so rude! It took me off guard, but i decided then and there that i would never buy anything from them again. He was great and very smart - even was going to the door to go out! Then on Tuesday, he started throwing up and his stool loosened up....I took him to the vet on Wednesday and they began treating him for Parvo, but they couldn t determine if he was positive because they were out of tests at the time. We brought him home and began SubCue fluids and antibiotics. The next day he wasn t eating and became very lethargic, so I took him to a different vet to have him tested, he was positive. He stayed overnight at the animal clinic and showed signs of improvement, so we were able to bring him home on Friday. Saturday, he woke up a little weak, but was walking and going out to potty. Saturday afternoon, he began falling over when we sat him down on the ground. We rushed him to the emergency vet that evening, and had to put him to sleep. It was heart-wrenching, to say the least. We spent $225 to buy him, over $300 in vet bills, and almost $300 at the emergency vet. I don t care about the money. What I care about is the fact that we now have to tell our 9, 8, & 5 yr olds that the puppy that we all fell in love with is now gone forever. He was 4lbs of spunk for the first few days, so he made a huge impact on all of us. What kills me is that the owners at Pet Village ONLY care about the profit that they make from selling these puppies that get sick after the guarantee period (which isn t worth the paper it s printed on) to people who fall in love with these precious beings. They don t care that there will be children who come home wanting to see their new puppy and have to have their hearts broken. The thing about Parvo is, is that it has an incubation period of 5-10 days. Bodey got sick on day 4 at our house, which means that he was infected at their facility. They do not care. Makes you wonder ~ what happens to the puppies there who get sick and they won t put out to sell? more

Great experience 7/9/2010

I was visiting in the SC area and stopped by this pet store as I usually do when visiting and saw that they had several maltese puppies. The employee was very friendly and helpful and when i decided to buy, she answered all of my questions, gave my puppy a quick bath and got my papers together quickly. I was advised that i could take the puppy to a local vet before leaving to have him checked which i did and everything checked out fine with the exception of a small eye infection that the vet gave me medicine for and the pet store covered the cost. I am now home with my wonderful little puppy, his eye infection if gone and i could not be happier with my purchase! I will definitely visit this store again next time I am in SC. Pros: great price more

Terrible simply aweful experience 7/25/2009

Watch out for the cats that run this place. THey act all nice to you and will tell you anything when youbuy. I bougght a very very sick puppy in this place. Next day i called them after vet visit. Woman would not assist me at all. WOULD NOT TAKE BACK and WOULD NOT PAY bill. They are true crooks. I try to use local businesses but this one is not one you should buy from..Cant believe they are still in business. Its a PUPPY mill there. Pros: Smell will knock you out nothing good Cons: Women are not friendly rude, they r nice if think u buy more

Sloppy Service 1/27/2009

I have taken my male dog there to be groomed and he come home very poorly groomed. I purchased a puppy there and the owner told me to take her to the vet of her choice free of charge for her 24 hour check up. I feel the lady was not up front with me. She said she would replace the puppy but after you have a new puppy you don't want to replace her. The vet told me that there was no way that the pet store owner and the puppy's previous owner didn't know about her situation. She has a umbilical hernia. more
