Best

Lovely place and even better service. The only groomer that I can take my dog to where my dog doesn't shake in fear.

Worst

I saw the news report about Lulu last night. It was horrifiying. Why doesn't this groomer just accept responsibility for thier actions! This place needs to be shut down immediatly. Just looking at that little dog you can tell she's a gentle soul and did not deserve that treatment. Disgusting! And what's with the ""wooden"" front desk? more

I have heard many horror stories on the news about this place, a dog lost an eye, one was burnt, another was sliced with something sharp, and one hung to death! To most people our animals are our babies and we know like a child you don't leave an animal unattended while bathing, while using sharp items, or with anything they could get hung to death on while you go out for a smoke. You wouldn't sit your baby strapped into or onto a surface & hook a hot blow dryer up until your baby burned, you would be charged with abuse! Why is this salon still getting away with animal abuse? Why has the news repeatedly reported horror stories on this establishment and nobody has stepped in to CLOSE THEM DOWN! So Please! Please! If you love your pet, don't bring them to Artistic! more

DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS PLACE. They have killed, blinded, burned and cut off body parts of animals. You can find the information on several websites_ newspapers in Cranston and Warwick and channel 6 news from January 2013. Be Warned OR Be Sorry! more

Have only been once so far but was very happy and plan to return...Took my long haired Shih tzu as a walk in...I am new to this area and this groomer was highly recommended...I was beyond pleased with how Brandy looked...They followed my instructions to a T!!! Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and my fur baby seemed very comfortable with them!! Then to top it off...they were substantially less expensive than my former groomer in MA! more

Great Groomer!!!! 4/20/2012

This place is awesome!!! They do a great job with my Champion Purebred Maine Coon Show Cat. And it's never a problem to get him in for an appointment, I wouldn't trust Bec with just anyone. Several of the Judges at our last show commented on how nicely groomed he was. If you're looking for a groomer this is the place to go...I'm so happy they do cats. Pauline I. more

Love this place 6/12/2011

I won't take my dog anywhere else. My family and I have taken my dog here for years. They know me by name and they are very polite every time I take my dog in. They groom him well and although we have to wait almost all day on Saturdays we know they are very busy and the end result is worth waiting for. I will say if you don't want to wait a long time for your dog to get done try to take it in during the week. I've taken my baby there a few times on a Thursday and he's always done much quicker. more

Skunked 1/14/2011

I have read your complant and have gone through the same thing with my dog when spayed by a skunk. My family and I to blammed the grooming salon untill my husband demanded we bring our dog to tufts. After the examination on my dogs eyes for DAYs the results came back and shocked us all. It was the skunk oil that ulcerated his eyes. The staff that worked with us was incredable. They told us that the skunk oil is like an acid which burned my dogs eyes. I am very happy we went and had Patches examined from Tufts. I dont no the tests your vet ran but there is no way he as is good as Tufts Univ. you should have went to the pros before pointing your fingers. The Newman family:) more

I have gone there for a few years. It has been usually okay. Took my dog a few months ago. He had gotten sprayed but in the back. We picked him up Sat afternoon. He just looked tired. By the next moring, his eyes were red. We thought she must have gotten soap in his eyes. When we woke up Monday am at 5am, he was blinking really bad and both his eyes looked a mess. I called my vet. He told us to come right in. He did a check up on his eyes. His eyes were severely irritated, his eyes were cloudy and severely irritated. He had a watery discharge too. The exam showed precipitates were noted in the aqueous humor of the anterior ulcerations. She used Safe Eyes which a groomer has no right to use. He also said it could cause blindness. He also said no one should use this product if you are not a vet. He also had to stick needles in his eyes . I got sick watching this. He also got high fever from this infection. We left there with 2 different eye drops, anti biotic, pain pills . He also gave him a shot. I went back 4 times. We thought for awhile he was going to be bind. I also have a letter from my vet saying he culd go blind when we went. Thank God it has healed. I talked to my groomer at the beginning. She said she would handle his vet bills. I also asked back for the grooming one. She seemed irritated after that. Now I get a letter saying she is only paying for 2 visits. She is not paying the last two. I am really pissed that Aritistic never called or checked on him. That is poor business. I will Never go back there or recommend this place to anyone! Very disgusted with that place and people! more

Cat Suffered Injuries while at Artistic Pet Salon 7/9/2010

I took my cat Poncho on July 9,2010 to get shaved. I had only been there once before with my other cat. They did not follow directions but no big deal. When I picked up Poncho he was bleeding from the chest. I ran back in and yelled, ""why is my cat bleeding?"" The guy said he had lost a nail!?!?!?! I don't see why a cat should lose a nail while getting his hair shaved but anyway, I am not stupid there are 2 slices in his chest! This is not from his paw. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO ARTISTIC SALON if you love your pet. A simple shaving of a fluffy cat turned into a cat getting nails ripped out of him and two deep cuts in his chest. I will never forgive myself for bringing him there. He did not deserve that pain. more

COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT 1/29/2010

THINK TWICE - and then think again - before taking your pet here. When I brought my dog in for the first time, the groomer asked me what I wanted done. I said ""a trim."" She asked me to define ""trim."" Fair enough. I said that since hair grows at the rate of 1/2"" per month and it had been six weeks since his last cut, a trim would be 3/4"". She then asked me several questions about the skirt, feathering and other features. She asked me if I wanted the same length all around. I said that, for this breed, there should be a bit longer fur on the legs (what they call ""skirt""). This went for several more minutes. When I picked up my dog, I was horrified to see had been shaved! HE HAD NO FUR left except a ""skirt"" which made him look ridiculous. She had cut much more than 3/4"" off. When she saw the look on my face, she asked me if this was not what I expected. I said no, I expected more hair. She replied, ""That's why I asked you exactly what you meant by ""trim."" I said, ""That's why I took so much time to answer you."" I will never go back there and am surprised that anyone goes there more than once. If you must go, bring a picture of EXACTLY what you want done. Not so much for the groomer, because I don't think they have the skills to even copy a photo, but so you will have a photo of what your dog should look like as you spend the next six months waiting for its coat to grow out to a normal length. P.S. I would have rated this business minus four stars, but that wasn't an option. more

do not go there! 7/3/2009

On July 3, 2009, I took my dog to get groomed. I had made an appointment 2 weeks earlier. I dropped my dog off at 9:00. This was my 4th time there. All other times, my dog was finished in 2 hours, and the groomer did a great job. For some reason, the groomer I had the 4 times before, was no longer working there, so I had another girl. This was my 2nd time with this other girl. My dog did not want to go in, and I should have taken that as a sign. Instead, I coaxed him in. I told the girl what I wanted and left. I called the salon at 12:30 (3 1/2 hours after drop off) and they told me he wasn't done yet and I would get a call when my dog was finished. At 3:00, I decided to just go in, because by then, my dog had been there 6 HOURS! I went in and the receptionist called the back to see if my dog was done. The groomer said she would call when he was finished. I told him I wanted my dog ""as is"", because it was already 6 hours. The groomer came out with my dog, didn't say anything to me, and just handed me the leash. My dog was still wet, and all that had done was a bath. No trim, no nails clipped, no ear hairs plucked. Just a bath, then left waiting. God knows what time the bath was given, because it took me 2 hours to comb out the mats that he came home with. (I brush my dog everyday, so he probably had 1 or 2 mats going into the vet, but came out with at least 30 mats). Needless to say, I was livid. The receptionist told me there was no charge, but I could take my dog again next week and pay then. I told him I would rather pay now because my dog would not be going back there again. I explained to him that 6 hours is completely unacceptable and inexcusable. He agreed with me. I left there very upset. Combing out all the mats for 2 hours was certainly not fun. And, he must have had something happen to his paw, because he won't let me touch it. Unfortunately, since dogs can't talk, I will never know what happened. But I do know one thing, it will never happen again. more

great groomer 2/14/2009

I can't say enough they always have my dogs ready on time or b4 they promise and they always look neat and smell CLEAN.we have 2 labs that shed like crazy they recommended furminator on them and the younger had a reaction.when i discussed this with the groomers they were very curtious and explained what the reaction was and offered other alternatives they genuinely had concern for the dogs sensitivity to the shampoo.\r They also made note of this on the dogs card so every time the dogs go for a cleaning everyone who grooms them is aware of it.Thanks artistic for caring.... more
