Blackmailing vet business 11/3/2011

We visited this hospital on October 2nd because our cat Buttons had been poisoned by some flea medicine. They were unable to revive him, and we brought our other cats in for services, leading to a vet bill of over $700. As part of our follow-up efforts against this poisonous drug, we wanted a copy of the doctor's report about Buttons' death. When we initially called, the officer manager refused to let us talk to the doctor to discuss the fact that the report did not adequately depict what happened that night. So, offhand, I threatened to contact my credit card company. The mood of the conversation then improved, and after sending a letter I was then able to speak with the doctor. She said she would send a report in a few days. When no report arrived, we called the hospital again, at which point the office manager, Cindy, refused to give us the report, paranoid that we would dispute the charges, even though the hospital had already gotten paid. She insisted we needed to make a second pa more

Stay Away from Gwynedd Vet Hospital 1/11/2011

Money, money, money! I made "money" the first words in this review because that's very much how Gwynedd Vet conducts their business. Overall I'm very, very disappointed with the practice. Do NOT patronize these guys if you can avoid it! To echo what other reviewers have said, go to Penn. You'll have a better understanding of your pets situation, and it'll be cheaper (Seriously. Penn will cost less for better treatment.). As pointed out above, Gwynedd Vet seems vastly more interested in securing your deposit and then running up a fat tab than getting your pet healthy again.\r \r In fairness to the practice, one of the several Dr.s who worked with us (Arms) was very concise in explaining our cats issues and was very helpful in guiding us through the process. Another one or two seemed at least competent. Unfortunately the one that we worked with most often seemed to lack a firm grasp of medical diagnostics, but talked incessantly, explaining the more basic aspects of the case repe more

Terrible 12/30/2010

This place is terrible. I'm currently waiting for my dog to be taken into surgery on an emergency basis for a severe laceration with possible nerve injury. Got here at 6pm and keep getting the run-around in re when surgery will start. Notwithstanding the hefty deposit of $1,200.00(which they promptly requested), it's been 8 hours (2:26am) and no surgery yet. Everyone keeps saying that the delay is caused do to new "emergency cases," while not one staff or vet wants to tell me that he/she considers my dog's situation to be a non-emergency (so I could take him elsewhere where they will treat my dog without waiting around for more "emergencies" to roll in). FYI, I've used this place several times over the past 3 years and each and every time I ago (when I have to), I deeply regret doing so. just hoping that no more "emergencies" roll in so they can care of my dog. FYI, I'm a retired attorney and don't have problems paying $$. This place is terrible because they really are only interested more

Money Hungry. 10/27/2010

I could not agree with the money hungry review more. My name is Kimberly Schaefer and I am a nurse. I am writing this to express how dissatisfied I am with the service that I have received at this veterinary. My dog will need a refill on an anti-itch medication and the veterinarian Dr Wood is requiring that I make a follow-up appt. This would be the third appt in a 2 month period. An allergy medication is not something that should require additional appts. This facility just lost a dog and cat. I spent over 300 between the past two visits. Thank you Gwynedd for being disreputable. I just recently moved back in this area and I will be going back to Trooper Veterinary. I will be imploring that this practice never be recommended to anyone again. No one should have to pay for a follow-up visit to be prescribed an antihistamine. more

Cares only about money 8/18/2010

Unfortunately this place seems to care a lot more about running up huge fees in short amounts of time ($2500 in less than 36 hours) than actually caring for animals. Did test after test without waiting for results that would have made later tests unnecessary. The treatment for either of the suspected illnesses was the same, but they withheld treatment to do more tests until I insisted they stop. I removed her from their care on the advice of my regular vet. They told me she would likely die by the next day if I took her home. It's 2 months later and she's doing great. Stay far, far away! more

Just another money hungry vet 4/30/2010

I took my dog to GVH in a panic since she was clearly in pain. Although the staff was compassionate, the fees were outrageous! They were so nice because I was clearly paying their student loans! I spent money that I did not have on a sick dog to no avail. Regardless of state of the art testing equipment, this place still could not find anything wrong with her. I questioned the necessity of the numerous proposed tests and was guilted into them for the sake of my dog. Every test that was run came back inconclusive. Surprised? I wasn't. After they sucked dry my last nickel, I left in despair and regretted ever calling them in the first place. My dog is still sick and now mommy can't pay for another vet visit to further investigate. more

Thumbs Up 2/25/2010

I love this place. It is a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for sometimes. They have a very compassionate approach and there is always someone there to help. more
