My husband and I discovered Bonks at a benefit being thrown for a slain police officer (Sgt. Steve Liczbinski). Although we did not stay long due to the crowd, we liked the friendly atmosphere and the coziness of the place. We returned the next weekend to try the food and we were happy with what we were presented with. for apps, the wings were not the typical tiny bar wings, and the mild sauce was tangy and tasty. My husband ordered the snow crabs with garlic and butter (moms style) and I ordered the dungeness crabs. Both of us were quite pleased. After speaking with the owner's mother, whom everyone apparently calls ""mom,"" we found out that the benefit we attended was the second benefit for Sgt. Liczbinski held at Bonks, and that Bonks had hosted several others for fallen police officers since they took over in 2007. \r
The beer selection was nice (so my husband says), and after he made a request for his favorite beer (Dogfish Head 90 min IPA), we found it in stock upon our next visit. Its nice to see a place cater to requests!
Pros: friendly staff, variety of food, do alot for community
Cons: could use a late night menu
