Horrid service, so- so food! Disappointing! 3/2/2009

Where to start...oh yes, the help. They have to be the rudest people I have ever met! I have never been cussed out by an employee until now! \r That young girl needs FIRED NOW! If I knew who to directly report her to, I would. She was rude & disrespectful from the beginning. Cussed at someone in my group & myself, lied to patrons, and was an all round complete B#@$&!!! \r When you go to place your order, no one there speaks to you. You ask a question and they can barely grunt out an answer. You are treated as a pain in their butt. Wait a second, am I not the paying customer?!? \r They practically toss the food at you. When I did finally received my order and the corn bread was not with it as listed as part the platter explained on the menu, I was told ""were out"". We were eating at 1 pm!!! \r Sold someone in my party a frozen bottle of soda and when they opened it, it exploded. OK, accidents happen. But this horrid employee mentioned above, THREW a bunch of napkins at him and told him CLEAN IT UP NOW. Excuse me? Is that not your job? It was no more his fault than theirs for selling it that way. Then proceded to cuss us out for trying to tell her this 65 year old man could not get on the ground to do her job. \r The place was down right filthy! I think the Philly Health Inspectors need to check this place out. And the food was absolutely nothing to write home about- ribs disgustingly fatty with barely any meat on them. The supposedly wonderful mac & cheese burnt with no flavor, and food cold to boot. All this, not to mention the excessive wait everyone has to endure as the employees move at one speed.....slow as molasses in the dead of winter. NEVER again! And I will make sure I tell everyone that will listen how terrible this place is! Oprah better think twice before endorsing a place like this.\r Pros: umm...food? Cons: employees more

The food is OK 2/22/2009

I wanted to try Delilah's famous mac n cheese so I drove down to the place in Cheltenhem. The yams was good, we really enjoyed them. I didn't care too much for the bread and the collards could have been more flavorful. Now for the famous mac n cheese I had better. My son said there was more cheese than macaroni. Pros: I went in there early on a Saturday and there was no wait. Cons: The place of the cafe can become a problem if it becomes over crowded. more

2/06/08 - Deliah's Soul Food - NOT CRACKED UP TO ITS REPUTATION 2/6/2009

\r Visited Deliah's in Reading Terminal with co-worker. What a disappointment. Service was slow......it's lunch hour folks....no fried whiting;no fried catfish......should take about 4 minutes;how about 10, that's ok. Now I see platters being prepared that have 2 pieces of fish, we get ours and find only 1! Why I ask....you only get one catfish the waitress abruptly replied when questioned. Why is the waitress' ""big"" hair not covered?? No ""thank-yous"" after we pay.....oh boy! My initial order was for the fried trout which I was later told ""we don't have anymore."".....ok, I'll have the catfish. About halfway through the catfish that I really didn't want, I notice platters being served with 2 pieces of fish....low and behold, they DO have trout....did someone just go out and catch them???? Outside of all of this, the food was so-so! The two women working left much to be desired as the one with the ""big"" hair argued with a customer as to weather she ordered one or two order of mac and cheese! Oh to top it off......one cashier takes out ""lip balm"" and coats her lips, then back to serving (yup..no hand washing or gloves)....gotta love it! My co-worker and I decided we wouldn't be back!\r What a disappointment!!!!!!\r Pros: Staff - not courteous; table space extremely tight more

What a disappointment!!!! 3/31/2007

I was doing my weekend time with self thing and ended up in Wilmington, DE & decided I would take the 30 minute drive to Philly for the ""Nations Best Mac & Cheese"" as proclaimed by Oprah. After the food network cook off between Delilah and Bobby Flay, how could I be so close and not try this. I had to have this 1000 calorie a serving treat. I m standing in line with anticipation and proceed to order. "" I would like the Beef Ribs with a side of Mac & Cheese and Sweet Potato."" ""We don't have no more ribs, we don't have no more Mac & Cheese, we don't have no more sweet potato."" Ohhh the disappointment!!! I said ""let me have the fried chicken. ""We don't have no more chicken,"" ""How about the whiting?"" ""We don't have no whiting."" The Horror!!! ""How about you tell me what you do have?"" Nonetheless, I SETTLED on the catfish with steamed cabbage and red beans & rice. It was okay, but I SETTLED. This restaurant had less than a quarter of everything on the menu. Mind you it's a Saturday at 2:00 in the afternoon. What kind of madness is this? The customer service was awful, no personality, no apologies for not having the signature item and flat affects, as if to say ""okay and so what we don't have anything on the menu deal with it."" It was a disappointing experience. The final straw... It was supposed to take my catfish five minutes to fry. I stood there for fifteen minutes. I then asked about my order and the darn platter was sitting in a bag ready and tied up the entire time. Mind you I was standing right there. No one bothered to say here is your order. I had to ask for it. So much for the experience of having the ""Nations Best Mac & Cheese."" more

It Could have been GOOD FOOD! 10/16/2006

Well I was quite excited to to try out Delilah's since I heard so much about it. I ordered the catfish and it wasn't cooked all the way through, the yams were cold and the potato salad was HOT ( go figure ). The mac n cheese was very good though and the peach cobbler needed a lot of help. I don't know if the restaurant outside of the market would have been any different but this place didn't live up to the hype. I would also like to state that the employees need some extra help there bcuz the lines are just too long....SOOoooo Just go and enjoy the Mac n Cheese, PLS! Pros: Some of the food is good more

Great food..ok prices..service,ehhh. 3/17/2006

The food at Delilah's is great. I would reccomend it to anyone. It would seem to please any palette but that of a VERY finicky eater. The prices are not that tempting. A platter with a meat, and two sides will run you between 9-10 $'s. Now they do give you plenty of food but..the price still can make you hesitate. The customer service is a little lacking in friendliness. On more than one occasion i was greeted with a stare as opposed to ""Hi"" or ""Can I Help You"" and personal conversations seem more urgent than timeliness or just being attentive to the customer. These days good customer service is so hard to find. Pros: Great tasting food, Adequate portions Cons: Pricing, Customer Service more

Hugely disappointing 2/16/2006

Delilah's looked like one of the more promising food venues at the 30th Street Station. But the food was a huge disappointment. The chicken stew dish was way too salty. The collard greens were bitter. And the corn bread was not fresh. I did have a taste of the mac and cheese, which was pretty tasty. Maybe you should just stick to that. Cons: taste more
