Same coffee as in a convenience store. 9/18/2009

Went there for lunch, for myself some coffee from a thermos and a danish. Ate the danish, sipped on the coffee and ugh! Where should I start? Well since this is a coffee house then coffee is what I'll start with. The coffee tasted just like the convenience store coffee, only slightly better than the stuff that comes out of the coffee maker at the office where I work, and that's not to give credit to Coffee Club: these machines have been around awhile and rarely cleaned. The coffee from the Coffee Club had no real coffee taste, just the sourness of poorly made coffee. Maybe their coffee is bad to start with, maybe they are using a ten dollar grinder they purchased off of craigslist, maybe it's a crappy brewing machine that may not even be able to heat the water to 200F or maybe it's all or some of the above but the bottom line is that the coffee on par of what you would expect from a convenience store and Dunkin Donuts. The ironic thing is that on the cash register there is a sticker that says:""Friends don't let friends drink Starbucks"", well if that's how they see it then I think it would be fair to say that I would not let an enemy ""drink Coffee Club"" as Starbucks is above and beyond what the Coffee Club is able to offer in regards to coffee and pastries. Oh, right, PASTRIES! So I bought a 1 inch wide slice of a danish for two dollars and as soon as I bit into it I have tasted something very familiar, that's right, an Entermann's Danish that would have cost me $4 for the whole thing at the local grocery store and I just spent two dollars on an inch wide piece! The last thing worth mentioning is that their lids hardly match their cups and I don't mean the color! The one part where the lid is meets the cup was not completely sealed and there was an occasional drip, a minor nuisance but something that should not be overlooked by a coffee shop owner. I will check out the third (Coffee Beanary) coffee shop in Media on Monday and post a review, until then Seven Stones is the destination to go for some truly good tasting coffee and good pastries that are not store bought. Pros: nice location Cons: crappy coffee, store bought pastries more
